Chapter 22 Prom

"Are you ready?" Dan asked smiling at you.

You walked over to him and fixed his bow tie a bit. "Now we're ready," you answered to his earlier question.

Dan offered you his arm as you gently placed your hand onto it.

As you and Dan walked through the entrance, loud music was pounding and flashlights were everywhere. You could barely hear anything except the music. A few familiar faces flashes around you as you walked towards the bar. Julia was there welcoming guests, once she saw you and Dan came along, she started yelling on top of her lungs. "Everyone!!! Look who's here!!!! It's Dan and y/n!!!!" Calling attention from across the room, you blushed a little from all the eyes looking at you.

"Heyyy guyss!!!!" You looked over and saw Zoe and Joe.

"Heyy Zo!!" You let go of Dan and went to give them each a hug. "Thanks for coming," you whisper in her ear.

After meeting Zoe and Joe, you and Dan walked through the crowd, chatting a bit with your other friends.

Dan seems to got a little bored, he tapped your shoulder and you turned to face him. "Would you mind... to dance with me?"

"No, of course not.." you smiled. You excused yourself from your friends. Dan gently took your hand and leads you to the middle of the dance floor. A slow song was playing. It's Taylor Swift's Everything has changed. It was Julia's idea to play all the old popular songs.

You were never good at dances. Dan took your right hand and place it on his shoulder while holding your left hand tightly. He wrapped his left hand around your waist and you two started moving slowly to the song.

You looked into Dan's chocolatey eyes. They are sparkling and filled with love. You smiled and he smiled back...

As you dance, more couples joined and soon the whole atmosphere is filled with romance. The song ended, and everyone clapped. You are still looking at Dan smiling. He leaned in and kissed you passionately. You kissed back but the kiss was soon interrupted by...

"LET'S ROCK AND ROLL!!!!" The DJ shouted as energetic music kicks in. You two broke the kiss and join the crowd singing and screaming to the music.

Eventually, you and Dan were separated. "Hey!! Y/n!! Long time no see, bro!!" You turned to see your best bro, Mike.

"Hey Mike!!" You hugged him, "Glad that you made it here!!! Haven't seen you a lot lately!"

"Yea, you too," he pulled back after the hug, "Me and the bros are upstairs on the roof downing some beer, you wanana join?"

You looked over to your shoulder and see Dan was talking with some other friends of his by the bar. "Sure," you turned back to Mike. He then grabbed a couple more beers and lead you to the rooftop.

There, sitting on the roof, are a few of the familiar faces you used to hang out with. There's Sean, Pete, Jack and Eric. They are holding beer cans, chatting something about old school life.

Sean saw you and Mike coming and called, "Mike!! What took you so long?"

The other boys turned and saw you, "Is that y/n?" The boys came over and greet you with hugs and handshakes.

These guys used to be your band mates and school mates. You were the lead singer and Eric, the drummer, used to have a big crush on you. Ah, the good old times.

You sat down with them and started drinking and talking more about your school life and how everyone's changed after graduation.

"We should hang out more!" Pete suggested.

"Totally!! I missed those days when we are practicing." Jack agreed.

Suddenly, someone opened the door to the rooftop yelling your name. You turned around to see Mike, he went to the restroom just now.

"What's up? Mike?" You laughed at his clumsiness.

"Your boyfriend is cheating on you," he exclaimed.

"What?" No... Dan wouldn't cheat on... me... or would he?

You sprinted down the stairs and pushed open the door to the bar. You looked everywhere for Dan... but was no where to be seen.

Finally, you saw him. He is standing by the bar tender. You started to make your way to him, but you stopped after you stepped closer.

Dan is not by himself. He was kissing a girl.... Kat. Kat. That girl who was obsessed with Dan during high school.

Tears started to blur your view. You turned around and started running towards the exit. You heard Dan calling you from behind, but you didn't care.

You ran and ran until you're outside of the bar. You leaned on the wall and cried.

Why would Dan cheat on you? Why would he kiss Kat? Doesn't he not love you? After all these years and all this time... Fate doesn't want you two to be together anyways... Then why bother to let you two meet again? Why does fate want you to fall in love with him when he will crush your heart again? Why does fate wanted to play with your emotions like this? Why does fate had to do this?? Why? Why?

"Y/n!!!" You heard Dan calling you and his footsteps are drawing closer and closer.

"Y/n! Please let me explain. It's not what you think..." his hand placed on your shoulder.

"IT'S NOT WHAT I THINK?" You shouted back, slapping his hand off you. "WHAT IT IS THEN? WHAT CAN BE IT OTHER THAN YOU KISSING ANOTHER GIRL!!!!" You started to back away from this man.

"Please, y/n. Let me explain..." Dan started to approach you again.

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!!!" You shouted and started to run across the road not wanting to hear lies.

"Y/n!!!" You tripped on your gown and fell to the ground. At this exact same moment, a car was speeding towards you but you couldn't move. As the car about to hit you, you saw a person sprinted to in front of you and blocked the car for you. The person fell to the ground and blood started to flow out of the body. The car immediately stopped when it hit the person. The driver peeked out of the side window and you quickly recognised it. "Mike?!?"

"Shit." Mike whispered to himself and started to speed off to another direction. After he drove off, I turned to the person lying in front of you.... it's Dan.

"Noo!! No..! Dan..." you crawled over to his side and hug him in your arms. "SOMEONE!! HELP!!" You cried.

"Y/n..." you looked down. Dan is whispering, probably with all his strength. "I'm sorry..."

"Please... Dan... don't say that..." your voice croaked. "It's my fault.... I'm sorry... please... don't.. die..."

"Y/n.... I'm tired..." he mumbled before he slowly closed his eyes.

"No.. No... don't sleep, Dan!!! Please... stay with me.... don't sleep..."
