Charles was late again. Erik should have been used to it by now, the boy probably wouldn't even make it to his own funeral on time. But today was supposed to have been special. Erik knew that his boyfriend had been waiting a long time to see the new Star Trek movie and Erik finally had the day off from working at his father's garage to take him to see it. He had even brought tickets in advance. But of course Charles was late. Erik had arranged a specific time so that they could go out and buy drinks and snacks and stuff before the film, no way was Erik going to buy that expensive stuff from the cinema. But he had forgotten to take into account Charles' bad time keeping. He sighed again and shot off another text to his boyfriend to see if he had at least left his house.
Oh god, he was running late. Again. He really should have known by now that twenty minutes was not enough time to get up and ready for the day. But here he was again just getting out of his five minute double quick shower, and he was already ten minutes late to meet Erik. But then this morning it wasn't entirely his fault that he was late, his alarm had chosen this morning not to go off at the time Charles had set so he had ended up oversleeping.
As he hobbled around his room trying to find some clothes that he deemed acceptable to wear in the outside world, his phone chimed signalling that he had a new text. He sighed, he knew that it was Erik asking if he was nearly at their designated meeting place yet. The last three he had gotten from the other boy had asked him the exact same thing. He knew that Erik was a little worried that Charles was going off him and one of these days he would stand him up, outwardly of course he would never show it but Charles knew Erik inside and out so he could of course see right through his tough exterior.
He shot off a quick text saying that he was running a little late and continued getting ready at double the pace.
Erik glanced at his watch for the third time that minute. The film was due to start in half an hour, if they hurried they would have time to get snacks but they would have to be double quick and Erik knew that Charles didn't like to be rushed when shopping. He glanced around trying to see if e could see if Charles was close or not. Then his phone went off signalling he had a message. It was from Charles saying that he was running a little late but he would get there within the next ten minutes. Erik sighed and opened a game on his phone, he might as well do something while he was waiting.
He was nearly there, he had nearly started running at one point but he was getting closer to where he was supposed to be meeting Erik. He got out his phone and had a quick look at the time, Erik said the film started at half three, it was ten past three now.
He rounded the corner and finally spotted Erik sat on a bench outside the cinema in the assigned meeting spot.
"Erik!" He called out as he slowed his pace. Erik looked up to see Charles hurrying towards him, the boy looked quite out of breath.
"There you are at last, I've been waiting ages." He exclaimed when Charles had reached the bench and sat down.
"Well I was a bit delayed. It was my alarm you see-" Charles stopped when Erik hushed him and held up a hand.
"I don't care what you're excuse is, it doesn't matter. He looked at his watch, "come on we have just enough time to get some snacks before the film." Erik stood up and offered his hand to Charles, which he took.
