Hunting with Gale

I wake up and sunlight is pouring through the window. Crap, I'm late to meet Gale! I think to myself. I get out of bed and notice my little sister Prim is not in the bed with me. Then I remember. It's reaping day. Of course she slept with mom last night. Even though it is her first, she is still sick with nerves. Her name is in 1 time, while mine is in 18 times. Gale hash is in 42. The only reason Gale and I have our names in so many times is because we took out tessera. Tessera is a portion of oil and grain that you collect every month. To get tessera your name is added into the reaping bowl 1 extra time for every portion you take out. I I'll on my boots and walk out the door. I go to the woods. Technically, hunting is illegal but my family would starve if I didn't, plus Gale and I agree that out of starving and a bullet to the brain, we would go with the biker because is faster. I grab my bow and quiver out of the hollowed log about 100 yards from the fence. I meet Gale at our usual spot. It's a rock ledge overlooking a lake with a little waterfall.

We eat breakfast, and then we hunt. We pick strawberries, get some squirrels, fish, get some greens, and even get a deer!!!! We go to 12's back market called the Hob. We trade some fish and greens for some seasoning and stew from Greasy Sae's. We take some of the deer meat to Rooba the butcher, and then we go to Madge Undersee's house. We trade strawberries for some money. Madge lives in the wealthier part of the district, named Merchant's Village. Madge is the mayors daughter so she's wealthy. After me and Gale get done trading, we split everything in half and talk while we eat the stew we bought at the Hob. "I'm never having kids" I tell him. "I would, if I didn't live here." "But you do live here". "But if I didn't." I don't try to argue with him anymore. Plus, if Gale wants kids, he'll find a wife easily. Gale is a looker. Dark brown hair, bright grey seam eyes, tall, muscular. Don't get me wrong, he's a hottie, but I'm into someone else. "Bye Gale see you in a couple hours." Plus, I hear rumors at school that Madge is into him. I'm sure he's into her to. "Bye Catnip, wear something pretty". My real name is Katniss, but when we first met, he thought I said Catnip, so thats his nickname for me. Now I'm heading to the bakery to sell my squirrels. When I get there, Mr. Mellark opens the door. "Hello Katniss I have the money ready. How much for each squirrel?" "10 dollars is good, I have 5" "okay 50 dollars for you Katniss" "mr.Mellark can I see Peeta please?" "Of course." Peeta comes in. There's the boy I feel in love with 5 years ago.
*FLASHBACK*
5 years ago, about 3 months after my father died in a mine explosion, I was trying to sell prim's old baby clothes so we could eat, but no one would buy them. I fell next to a tree outside of a store that smelled Ike fresh bread. I saw a boy peaking out the window. He was cute, tallish with blonde curly hair and ocean blue eyes that even back then I got lost in. He even had some muscle. A name pops into my head. Peeta Mellark. The baker boy. He disappeared from the window. Not 10 minutes later do I hear screaming and then Peeta comes outside with 2 burntish loaves of bread. He has a hue red welt on his cheek. He looks through the window, and then runs over to me. In the rain. Running to me. He comes over and kisses me full on the lips. It warms me up even in the freezing January rain, makes me feel like I ate hours ago even thought it was a couple weeks ago. Then he pulls away. The feeling is gone instantly. He said to me "hi I'm Peeta Mellark and I've been in love with you since I was 5, please take this bread so you don't die." Then I kiss him back. The feeling, it's back. I know what I'm feeling. Love. There is only 1 other person that I'm sure I love, and that's Prim. I say to him "do you believe in love at first sight?" "Of course I do, that's how I fell in love with you. Why?" "Because Peeta Mellark, I just fell in love with you" he smiles and kisses me.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Hey baby" he says to me and we share a kiss. "Hey Peety. I just came to drop off some squirrels and to tell you hi" " k Katniss. Hey it's 1 you ought wanna get going the reaping starts at 2" "ok bye Peeta love you see you after the reaping" "I love you too Kat see you after". I walk out the door, but not before I get another kiss in. I get home, thinking about the danger ahead.

So guys, what do ya think of my first chapter? 939 words! I'm sorry if you don't like it, I'm sidetracked, I just got engaged like 6 hours ago and my fiancé just left. We were talking about the wedding. I wanted to start writing before I get married cause afterwards and right before we will be preoccupied obviously. So comment follow and vote!!!!!
