What Is Love

Chapter sixteen

Maya's pov 

I wake up at 5:00am giving me at least 45 minutes to get ready and 15 minutes to get to school.

I take a ten minute shower then do my hair and makeup taking thirty minutes then I put on my cheer outfit which takes five minutes and grab an apple to eat leaving me extra time to get to school.

When I get to school I see Konner, his best friend Ryder and his other best friend Carson standing at the front of the school greeting the early students. I arch an eyebrow and walk over to them, why are they here early?

"Why are you guys hear early?" I ask and Ryder looks at me tiredly.

"Well Konner heard that Reece was going to be here and he knew you were going to be here so he dragged Carson and I u-" Ryder gets cut off by Carson smacking him in the head and Konner making a growling sound.

"What he means to say is we all wanted to show up early to make sure you were okay with Reece" Carson smiles.

"Yeah that's exactly what I meant to say" Ryder grumbles earning another smack but this time from Konner. I bite my lip to hold back a laugh.

"Thanks but I can solve my own problems" I say walking in. The first place I go is gym to see all the girls talking.

"Okay girls let's stretch" I yell and go to the captain's spot.

When I step in the spot a bunch of paint of different colors falls on me in they all gasp but then start laughing. I see Tracy and Reece walk in laughing and Reece has his phone out recording me.  

I walk up to Tracy angry with my fist clenched and then I see Konner run up laughing, he picks me up to keep me from punching into Tracy's face repeatedly.

"Konner if you don't let me go i'll kick you where the sun doesn't shine" I mumble angry and Reece keeps recording.

"Calm down Tink" Konner says laughing and I glare at him making him bite his lip to stop. "Okay it's not funny, I'm sorry for laughing" Konner says in between laughter! 

"You are such an idiot, Reece is recording this, gosh use your brain, can't you see they are going to most likely post this, the least you could do is let me punch her" I yell at Konner and he lets me go, not because of my little rant but because I got a drop of paint on his shirt.

"Crap, my mom's going to kill me, this shirt is new" Konner mutters and I glare at him and give Konner a giant bear hug making him laugh and push me away.

"There now you are all colorful" I snap and Tracy and Reece continue laughing and that's when I punch Tracy and Konner punches Reece, That's also when a teacher walks in.

Konner and I are now standing in the principal's office with Tracy and Reece, Ryder and Carson are standing in the hall along with Kayla and Chance.

"Maya this is your second incident with mrs.James" The Principle says and I shrug.

"She deserved it both times"  I shrug and Konner smirks while Tracy just frowns.

"Can you guys leave me to talk with Maya" The principle says and Tracy and Reece walk out but Konner leans against the wall crossing his arms over his now colorful shirt. "You to Mr.Williams" The principal asked.

"She didn't do anything but stick up for herself, yeah she gets angry easily but pouring paint all over her that's bullying so you can't only punish Maya" Konner says defensively and I sigh knowing Konner is just going to get himself in more trouble.

"Konner you can leave" I say and Konner looks me in the eyes and I nod reassuringly and he walks out mumbling 'i'll be in the hall'

"Now Maya you can't have any more incidents, now does this 'anger problem' have to do with your past" The principal asked and my eyes go wide.

"Please, I am nothing like my mom" I snap and he shakes his head.

"I mean you punch when you get angry Maya" He says and my jaw drops.

"You have no idea what I went through, I was lucky if I just got one punch from her" I say my breathing picking up because I have never really talked about it except if it was in a dream.

"Never mind Maya I'm sorry for assuming, You and Konner will have to do community service for the next few days and i'll call your par- guardians" The principal says and I roll my eyes and leave.

I can't wait for spring break.
