"Dan. So glad you could make it," Veronica sneered as he walked forwards to find her standing with her back to him.
"Why are you here? What do you want?" Dan barked at her.
"Well, I need your help of course," Veronica said like it was obvious. She turned around and stepped over to Dan, stroking his face with her hand. Angrily, Dan slapped it away, staring her in the eyes and daring her to do it again. With a sigh, she took a step back and kept going. "My son. I have a new lead for you to follow."
"I'm done, Veronica. I won't do anymore of your dirty work for you!" Dan snapped.
"Oh, what a shame," Veronica pouted. "Well, it would really be awful if the council found out about Phil's knowledge then, wouldn't it?"
Dan's eyes went wide. "How did you-?!"
"I have eyes everywhere, Daniel. Everywhere. I see everything," Veronica laughed evilly. "So, will you help me?"
"What do you want?" Dan growled.
"Excellent!" Veronica smirked."In the coven library, there's some old journals in there somewhere. They were written by some of my old coven members all those many years ago. I know that after my love and I were killed, they kept on looking for my son everywhere. The one thing I don't know is if they ever found him or not."
"So what do these journals have to do with your son?" Dan questioned.
"They always wrote everything in their notebooks for future coven reference, just in case, so if something as major as finding my baby happened to them, they would have written about it," Veronica explained.
"Do you know where in the library they'd be?" Dan asked.
"They'd be with all the other journals. Generations of the London Coven kept a journal. There's an entire section in there somewhere. Things constantly change position in there, I have no idea what the exact location is," Veronica told him causing Dan to roll his eyes.
"Great, so I've got next to nothing to go on?" Dan complained.
"Quit whining! If you want your beloved Philly to stay alive, you'll do as I say!" Veronica threatened. "You have four days! I suggest you get to work!"
"Four days?!" Dan cried out, but before he could argue any further, a strong wind began to blow and a black, sand-like material started to swirl around the both of them. Suddenly, it became so aggressive that everything was pitch black, and Dan couldn't even see his own hands two inches in front of his face.
It kept going, engulfing Dan until his eyes shot open and adjusted to his surroundings.
"Not again," Dan whispered to himself as he slowly sat up and scanned the objects in Phil's room. Here he was getting yet another visit from Veronica. The fact that she was still out there and watching him at all times was dangerous, but she was gone from sight and he was safe. At least, for now.
Dan looked down at the sleeping Phil beside him. He was so peaceful and happily cuddled under the covers like a little angel. I scared Dan to death to think that that adorable innocence could be stained red at any moment now.
Laying back down, Dan scotched closer to Phil and wrapped his arms around him. He wasn't about to let anyone or anything touch Phil. Dan would keep him safe if it meant his life.
For the rest of the night, Dan tried to fall back asleep, but he couldn't bring himself to rest any deeper than a half sleep. This entire thing was really messing with every part of his head. How in the hell was he going to find his way out of this mess?
