Trapped between two lifes

CHAPTER 1

I'm lying on a bed with closed eyes.I feel an unusual tightness around my wrist and ankles.My throat burns from the thirst...but not for water.I feel that if I don't drink any blood now,I might die.I use my smelling senses to detect an animal or a human,to satisfie my thirst.I sense two sources of human blood,but one of them is sweeter and it makes me urgently want to taste it.I open my eyes and I see two pair of eyes staring at me.I try to free myself from the bonds.

''Tell me when you're done doing whatever it is that you do'',said the man with the long ,black,straight hair.

''Vincent,try to help me immobilize her and leave the sarcasm for later.''

''Ethen relax a little and try to have fun with it.It's not like we catch a vampire everyday.''

I am a vampire? There is no way this is happening to me right now!These creatures only exist in fantasy books and not in the real world.However,that could be an explanation for my hunger for blood.Why have these two men captured me?What do they want from me?Perhaps I have to harness my thirst for a while,in order for them to tell what the hell is going on.

''How did you get here?Did you're people send you here to spy on us?''

''I don't understand what you're saying.I live in Schwarzland with my parents.I have no idea how I got here.'',I said in fear.

''Isla probably turned you into a vampire.Ethen we have to talk in private,to decide on what we're going to do.''

The two men left,leaving me alone.I'm so confused and I still don't understand what's happening here.Damn my thirst that doesn't let me think clearly! Meanwhile I here someone talking outside the door.

''Ethen we have to take advantage from the fact that we have a member of Islas group here.We could gain our rights back in exchange for the girl.''

''You think I haven't thought about that?Think about it.It could turn out catastrophic for our pack and she could kill them all.Haven't you seen her eyes?Her hunger has conquered her.

''You're right,but Isla has already killed half of our pack.We can't survive another battle.By imprisoning her we can try to create a new peace treaty and live the rest of our lives peacefully.''

Everything just seems even weirder now.Let's just take it from the beginning.I don't know anyone named Isla and the most important thing,when they're talking about a pack,what do they mean?A werewolve pack?My parents used to read stories to me about such dark worlds when I was younger.But apparently all these creatures I used to read about really do exist and they're among us.Who could have ever thought that werewolves and vampires live in the woods of Schwarzwald,Baiersbronn and that they fight each other.And the worst thing? I am one of them,being held by two werewolves as their prisoner.

I don't hear anything.Maybe they want to kill me and they're preparing a plan to kill me at this very moment.I don't have any intention of hurting them,but my thirst uncontrollable.

My thoughts are interrupted by the door that just opened.The two men came in,holding a dead deer.

''That's your food.When you're done eating,we'll talk.'',said the one with the shorter hair.

They released me from the bonds and I threw myself on the animal like a crazy person,sucking its blood,while the two of them were observing me.

I'm so ashamed of it.I feel like a monster,like the ones you tell you're children about,to scare them.They're eyes were full of hate and disgust.It was impossible to control myself.

When I was done and I had satisfied my thirst, I sat on a corner of the room,observing the two men,now that I could think clearly again.

The one who was ironic to me at first was a tall,well build man.He had long,straight,black hair,just like his eyes.While I was looking at him,he smiled at me sarcastically.His blood did not have any special smell.

The other one was more silent and he did not talk.He stood in a corner and he was looking at me intensively with his black eyes, that could magnetize anyone in a second.He had brown hair that ended just above his shoulders.He had a sharp jawline that looked a bit stiffened as if he was ready to face any danger,while I was observing them.He was tall and you could see his defined muscles through the black T-shirt he was wearing.I felt my heart flutter just by looking at him.I was lost in his eyes and I focused on the smell of his blood that still made me dizzy.

He was the one that brought me back from my slumber,by looking carefully at me and telling me:

''I'm Ethen and the leader of this pack.That's Vincent.We'll keep you here until we make an agreement with Isla, your leader.While you're here you'll better obey us or things won't end very well for you! Tell us your name.''

''My name is Layla.I haven't understood why you're keeping me locked up here nor the team you keep referring to.''

''We have imprisoned you because you're dangerous.You are capable of sucking the blood out of every pack member.'', said Vincent to me,while he got closer to me and continued:

''Now,concerning your team,don't you take us for fools.You can sell your lies to others.We know very well that she sent you here,so that you can spy on us.''

''I swear to you I don't know what you're talking about.I can't even digest that creatures like vampires or werewolves really exist and that I am one of them.''

''What do you mean?Well then tell us what you remember.'', said Ethen with an angry look on his face.

''Like I said, I'm Layla.I live with my parents in Baiersbronn in Schwarzwald,where I work at the local bookstore.I have no clue how I got here.''

''Then just let us refresh your memory.We found you in the woods and then brought you here,where you were unconscious for 3 days.The only team that exists in this area is Islas.You obviously belong to her's.'', Vincent informed me.

''3 days?Thats impossible.I don't know whats going on,but maybe meeting Isla is going to help me remember her and the others.'''

After a few minutes of silence Ethen spoke first:

''Maybe that's a good idea.We'll try to arrange a meeting.''

After the two men left the room, I heard them talk quietly.

''Ethen,this could be a trap.How can we trust a vampire?''

''But it's a good opportunity to name our demands.Either way you already said it yourself earlier.''

''The food is ready boys.Leave your thoughts for later and come charge yourselves with energy.'', said a female voice.Afterwards..silence.

I don't know what time it was or what was going on.I was feeling exhausted,alone and scared.I was wondering if my parents were looking for me and for how long I've been a vampire.Am I ever going to be free again?
