Trapped between two lifes

Chapter 11

Four hours had passed since we had come back to the pack and told them what was going on.

Ethen apologized to Cora, as soon as he learned the truth and welcomed her back to the pack. Otherwise, he just made short questions and had a constant skeptical and angry look on his face.

Kate released us quickly from the chains with a hammer. Finally! Our wrists were scratched and bloody. She also took care of our wounds. Cora from the flogging and mine were from Ian's hit on my head. Luckily our superhuman powers helped and our wounds could heal much faster.

Vincent looked really pissed off. You could see just by his eyes that he was ready to go and confront the vampires. However he did not lose his humor and he tried to cover up certain situations, by using it, for example:

''Imagine how annoying you were, to get them to the point to betray you. Your own kind. You didn't like our comforts, so this just serves you right.''

''Vincent Theodore Smith!'' said Kate very seriously.

''Sorry babe. You know I can't handle such situations otherwise.''

''It's OK, Kate. I know he didn't mean what he said.'' I told her and continued:

''At least something good came out of this mess. We now know Isla's true plans and we can react in time.''

Emma and Ronan were sitting on the couch in the back and they looked pretty nervous, especially Emma. Ronan tried to comfort her.

Kate was eventually the calmest one. I'm sure she must have also felt the same as the others, but she knew how to hide it well enough.

''So guys, it's time to rest. Let's get our beauty sleep because we also have a war to face.'' said Vincent after a long time of silence.

I headed towards my old room. I had collected nice memories from there and I had missed it a lot. I still remember the night I slept with Ethen.

I was about to close the door behind me, when Ethen entered my room.

''Why did you leave? What did you think you would accomplish? I was crazy worried about you. I almost crossed the borders to come and find you. The only thing you left me was that stupid letter!''

''I'm sorry Ethen. I didn't want to get you into more trouble. I couldn't imagine that things would take such a turn. I just wanted to protect you, but I clearly failed.''

''It's not your fault Layla. I shouldn't have trusted them from the beginning. '' he said and continued, while holding me in his arms.

''I should be the one to protect you from everything. Don't worry, we'll get through this obstacle.''

I hugged him even more tightly, crying from the thrill and from the excitement of seeing him again.

He moved a bit back, just enough for him to hold my face.

''I've been trying to hide my feelings towards you, but I'm afraid I can't restrain them anymore. I'm madly in love with you.'' he said and wiped my tears coming down my cheek.

''I feel the same way about you.''

Ethen brought his lips closer to mine and I closed my eyes anticipating his kiss.

At that moment Ronan came in the room, ruining our moment.

''Ehmm sorry for interrupting, but Vincent sent me to tell you to come down, so we can decide on a plan.'' he awkwardly said, blushing a bit.
