Trapped between two lifes

Chapter 7

I find myself waking up in Ethen's arms the next morning. He was still sleeping. I started observing him. He looked so peaceful. He usually has a tense face, but he's relaxed now. He even looks younger than he is. He's just 25 years old, but he has so many responsibilities. No wonder he's so grumpy all the time. I carefully caressed the lines of his face, so that I don't wake him up. I wanted this moment to never end. I lay on his chest, listening to his heartbeat, while he still had his hand on my waist.

The sun came in through the cracks of the window. I assumed it was still early in the morning because the sun wasn't shining that bright yet.

I was trying to hide my feelings for so long because I knew they weren't right, but after last night I don't think that's possible anymore. I'm in love with him! I think that he also feels the same way about me. But.. I know that he would always choose his pack over me. They're his family. I don't blame him though because I would react the same way if I were in his place.

I suddenly felt his hand tighten around my waist and I figured he must have just woke up. I looked him in the eyes and he said:

''Good morning beautiful! '' and smiled at me.

''Good morning.'', I sweetly replied to him.

''I haven't slept that deeply in a long time'', he said.

''I also didn't sleep that bad in your arms.'', I answered playfully.

''I don't want to make you sad, but I hope you understand that we cannot be together. Trust me, I would really want that, but it's not possible.'', he explained to me.

''Unfortunately I know that. But I still want you to know that I will never forget the night we had together. It will be a nice memory.''

''It's best if I leave the room first, so that no one raises any suspicion.'', he said and I nodded in agreement.

Before he left, he gave me a kiss on my cheek and he exited the room.

For our bad luck, Cora was just leaving her own room and she looked at us curiously.

''I'm sorry I interrupted your little chat.'', said Cora sarcastically.

''You did not interrupt anything. I was just telling Layla that she should come downstairs and help out with the breakfast.'', he explained her with his serious look.

I was just about to say Good morning to Cora, but she followed Ethen, giving me a hateful look before that, of course.

I still wonder if Cora had anything to do with the incident.

I hope she does not suspect anything between me and Ethen.

I changed my clothes and went downstairs ,to help the rest of the pack with the preparations.

I greeted everyone and they repaid the Good morning warmly.

Even though I don't eat with them, I still sit with them on the table because it reminds me of my home. It's also a chance to be near Ethen.

''How did you sleep last night Layla?'', asked me Kate and I looked at Ethen awkwardly and answered her:

''Better than the previous nights.''

''I on the other hand couldn't sleep last night.'', said Ronan and continued:

''A certain someone was screaming like a little girl.''

''It's not my fault that the seventh season of Pretty Little Liars came out. I just had to watch the new episodes! I , unlike you, have also other interests than to constantly annoy everyone.'', countered Emma.
