Trapped between two lifes

Chapter 12

We waited at our side of the shore of the creek for Isla's team to arrive. All the packs of the area, but also some vampires, who had unfinished business with her, showed up, just like Ethen had told us. I did not expect that so many would come to fight Isla or that vampires and werewolves would work together. I'm sure that she has also managed to get many vampires to join her. She was late and that made me nervous. She might have planned a surprise attack for us and destroy us once and for all like that.

Ethen, who was standing beside me, held my hand and that made me feel reassured. I felt safe near him.

''It looks like the queens wants to make a grand entrance.'' said Vincent sarcastically.

''Well you're not wrong about that, dog. Either way a queen has to be awaited by everyone.'' answered him Isla, who was surrounded by a huge vampire group.

For her standards, she was simply dressed, something that she does not normally do. She was wearing black leather pants, heel boots in the same color, a tight red sleeveless shirt and a black leather jacket. However she still had the glow of a queen.

Beside her were the twins standing, looking sad and scared.

Ethen reluctantly let my hands, so that he can take a step forward and he started talking:

''Let's get straight to the point. You've pulled the rope long enough. There doesn't have to be a war and blood to be spilled. We can solve our disagreements peacefully. Give us the rights that rightfully belong to us back and we'll let you live.''

''Oh so you're going to do me a favor? I'd rather die than giving you, dogs, your rights back.'' Isla told him, full of hate and continued:

''Either way we earned our rights. You have to earn them, by spilling your blood.''

''Enough, Isla!''

It was Luke. He showed up in between the trees and stood on our side.

''Let go of your stubbornness. We all know that the only reason you're doing this is because you want to avenge your old lover. A werewolf. Do your allies know that you killed your whole team, so that you can become the leader? You've been handing everyone lines. You talk about what's right and how much you want to protect your own kind, but all you really care about is yourself and what might benefit you. You've already done too much. You destroyed my best friend. I won't let you hurt anyone else I care about. Gabriella, Isabella I know that you are grateful towards Isla for saving you, but she was never interested in you. She only needed more members for her team. Please, come with me. We can make a new start.'' he said and while the twins were making a few steps forward, to cross the shore, Isla told them:

''Don't you dare to move. You two owe me a lot.'' and she later addressed Luke:

''That was a very touching speech you gave. However, if I remember correctly, it was you who killed Ian and not me. How could I ever hurt the love of my life.''

''You're a liar. I'm sure that you never loved him, but instead used him, just like you did with Alexander. I hope you remember about whom I'm talking.'' said Vincent.

Isla had gone red from her anger and she looked like she did not know what to say.

''Actually, we don't owe you anything, Isla. You did a lot of things behind our backs. We thought that you were family to us, but you betrayed us.'' said Gabriella and Isabella continued:

''Luke loves us like a brother we never had. He's a real family to us and that's why we'll follow him.''

They crossed the shore, without hearing another word from Isla and many other vampires followed their example.
