Oikawa thanked the nurse after she cleaned his wounds, fixing him new bandages. She returned his kind smile, placing his old bandages on her tray. "Get some rest, Oikawa-kun." She said before excusing herself out of the room, leaving him all by himself.
The brunette sighed once left alone. Sitting up in his bed, he looked at his surroundings. It was a plain hospital room, nothing to keep him entertained or company. Mae promised to visit later the night with their parents. He wished they were here already, or better yet, he wished that he could return home. Suddenly, his lonely thoughts wandered to Iwaizumi, Umi and the crying girl.
He recalled the surprised look on her face, like someone had slapped her right in her face. Her [Eye Color] eyes wide, lacking of the brightness and sparkle he felt they should have. He remembered how she was looking right at him, as if pleading him. Somehow, looking into her eyes, hearing the small broken gasp escape from her lips, his body urged to rush up to her, to hold her, to do whatever he could to change that.
He winced when his wound started to throb from all the thinking he was doing. He reached his hand to his temple, fingers brushing against his bandage. While doing so, he noticed something new in the corner of his eye, sitting on the table by the side of the bed. His attention averted from the pain in his head to the intriguing object by the flowers.
It seemed to be a book. A plain, hard cover book with a square window in the center. Feeling curious, Oikawa picked up the book to examine it closer. In the square window, behind a transparent laminated layer was a preserved blue flower. Something in his chest reacted to the small flower, making his shoulders feel heavy. His brows furrowed as he traced the shape of the petals, his chest tightened.
He carefully opened the book, his mouth feeling dry. The book was rather empty, as if the owner had just started using it. He scanned the pages of the book, eyes tracing the peculiar handwriting. His breath hitched when he reached a certain line written in the book, lips trembling.
Oikawa Tooru, Oikawa-san, The Person I Feel The Happiest With.
Oikawa traced his name with his shaky finger. He only realized that he was crying his vision blurred, turning glassy. Immediately, he closed the book, putting it by his side as to not dirty it. Tears continuously filled his eyes, rolling down his cheeks one after another. He gasped, the pain his chest growing. He clenched his fist on his chest, pulling the hospital gown into his palm. He lowered his head, giving in to the tears.
Soon, Oikawa Tooru had broken down once more.
