Today was Saturday which means no school which also means optional dance class.
Today was the one day I wasn't gonna go mostly because my mom and I were going to my moms close friends house while she was at work to set up a surprise coming home party for her husband.
"Claire you up?" My mom yelled
"Now I am!" I called back
"We're leaving in an hour!" She yelled back.
With that I got up and changed into a red jacket with light blue skinny jeans and my white high top converse.
I then put my hair into a messy ponytail and walked downstairs.
"Make sure to eat your breakfast." I heard my mom scream from the shower.
I quickly ate some fruit and a yogurt.
"That's all you're eating?" My mom questioned
I nodded
"So what did you do last night?" My mom asked
"Nothing much just went to the arcade with a friend." I stated
"Who Kelsey?"
"Mom Kelsey would never step foot into a arcade, you haven't met him before." I said while throwing the remains of my yogurt away.
"Him?" My mom said excitedly while jumping around
"Yes mom, him, but he's just a friend."
"Ohh is he a football player?"
"Nope."
"Basketball player?"
"No"
"What's he do?"
"He's into film making and the guitar." I said while looking in the mirror.
"He sounds nothing like your other friends that were boys or your old boyfriend." She said confused
"Mom for the last time Scott and I never dated."
"Ok but what about that one guy from summer camp?" She asked
"Nope we hated each other." I stated
"Well it's only the first year of high school before you know it I'm gonna be driving you to prom."
I laughed "okay sure mom."
We both got in the car and began driving to the store we needed
Balloons
Confetti
Cake
Streamers
And any other decorations we could find.
After going to the store and getting the supplies We pulled up to the Smiths house and got the key from under the mat and opened the door.
We told Mrs Smith that we're gonna go to her house to let her dogs out but of course that wasn't the case.
We then started decorating,
I started blowing up balloons and throwing streamers everywhere.
Mom decorated the cake and threw confetti all around the house.
The house honestly looked like party city threw up everywhere.
We then got the text from Mr. Smith saying he was on his way over.
Agh I get so excited whenever my mom and I do this.
We saw the headlights and immediately ran outside.
I ran up to him and gave him a hug.
Mr Smith and I are super close he's like a father figure to me.
"Congratulations." I said while he hugged me.
"I talked to your dad recently and he's misses you very much."
I felt the smile grow on my face "thank you."
"Come on let's get inside." My mom announced
We all ran in and hid till we heard the front door open
"SURPRISE!" We all yelled and her eyes immediately looked to her husband.
She dropped her bag and started to cry.
Mr smith walked up to her and gave her a hug while I felt my eyes water up.
There was always mixed emotions whenever my mom and I did this
We're happy for the turnout then said because it wasn't my dad walking in and surprising us.
After celebrating for awhile we went back home and I called it a night
Sunday
Sunday was a pretty big day for me,
Mostly because the cheerleaders and the dancers were the halftime show for the big homecoming football game.
Everyone was required to wear school colors along with something nice so I wore a blue dress with a black belt and black heels and curled my hair.
I also packed leggings, a Carmel high t shirt, and cheer shoes for when I perform.
I don't do much besides for tumbling.
I get a 10 second solo were I basically tumble across the football field doing front handsprings and front flips.
I stretched and did some yoga till it was finally 5 and I walked to the game.
Clyde had texted me while I was walking to the game it said
Clyde 🤓😜
Hey are you going to the game?Of course I'm performing 😅
Then he saidCool now I have to go and see you perform.
Of course 😉 I'll wait for you at the entrance
Wait really? I thought we can't be seen in public together.
Who cares if anyone ask I'll say we're friends only.
Ok cool! See you there
I sat at a bench and waited for Clyde.
I saw Taylor and Emmery walk in together and Taylor looked at me confused.
Probably wondering why I was out by myself. Soon everyone will know when I walk in with Clyde why I wasn't in earlier.
I looked around and felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked behind me and saw Clyde wearing khakis with a navy blue polo with his hair in his normal way.
"You look nice." I said while standing up
"As do you." He said while looking at me
"Let's go." I said smiling.
When we walked in everyone stared.
When I noticed this I decided to break the biggest stereotypical thing ever.
I grabbed Clyde's hand and held it as we walked across over to Rylan and Emmery.
I looked at him and saw his cheeks redden.
Rylan and Emmery looked at us shocked.
"Hey guys." Emmery said
I smiled "hi."
"So you guys a thing?" Rylan asked
"Nope just really good friends." I said
"Are you guys a thing?" Clyde asked
"Nope- of- of course not." Rylan stuttered.
I raised an eyebrow. "Well anyway I gotta go change into uniform for the half time show." I waved.
I noticed Clyde and Rylan continue talking as I walked off.
When I got to the changing room Kelsey walked up to me.
"Look either you ditch film geek or you're not performing." She spat
"Woah who broke your nail." I said with attitude
"What's your choice?" She asked
"You're not gonna make me choose between my friend and performing. Besides you won't be able to find someone to do my solo in 30 minutes." I crossed my arms.
"We can improvise." She said putting her hands on her hips. "So what's it gonna be?"
No way not gonna choose, wait I know I'll just say performing then perform the Half time show then go back to Clyde, Emmery and Rylan.
"Performing." I mumbled
"Yay Claire Tucker is back!" She said clapping her hands
I quickly changed and did my makeup differently and walked to the center field along with the cheerleaders and dancers.
The coach announced us and then the music kicked in.
Honestly we were doing way better than I imagined. We were nailing every move then the music sped up a little which only meant one thing my solo was about to happen.
Everyone who was performing moved to aside as I began running to start my tumbling.
First I did a front handspring, followed by a back flip then two more front handsprings.
Everyone cheered when I landed the final move as we bowed I looked over and saw Clyde who was by far cheering the loudest.
I was gonna walk off to Clyde and Rylan when Kelsey stopped me.
"Nope you're not going over there."
The rest of the night I was miserable I had to hang out with the cheerleaders who wouldn't even let me look over by Clyde and the others.
The worst of all is I couldn't even explain myself to them.
