Wednesday, Wednesday is the day our group of three would go back to four.
The past few days have been pretty normal with dance practice, loads of homework, and pop quizzes.
So far this years been crazy but all that matters is that my grades have been great with all A's!
I got out of bed and immediately changed into something simple, a pair of skinny jeans and a sweater with flats.
I brushed my teeth, hair and applied my simple makeup routine.
"Hey mom!"
"Hey Claire you seem happier today." She said with relief.
I nodded while eating a fruit bowl my mom made for me.
"Your dance teacher called me this morning and she said you have a hard day at dance today"
I sighed while eating a strawberry.
"But she also told me you'll be getting a dance solo at the holiday concert!" She said excited.
"Oh yeah! I totally forgot to tell you!"
She laughed while pulling a water bottle out of the fridge and handing it to me.
"Drink up."
I took it and put it in my bag.
"Scotts gonna drive you to dance so I'll see you at dinner."
I shook my head "I won't be home till 9, I have a private after my class today."
She sighed "right I forgot, well I'll pick you up at 9"
I nodded "see ya."
"Bye love you!"
"Love you too!" I said while closing the door and walking to school.
When I arrived I was greeted by Scott.
"Well isn't it my favorite little dancer." He said while hugging me.
"Hey You're only a year older than me!" I said
"But I'm way taller. How tall are you again 5 foot?"
"I'm 5'5 that's perfectly normal, at least I'm not 6 foot and a giant." I teased
He laughed "remember today I'm picking you up."
"I know see ya later." I called out while walking to the bleachers where Rylan and Emmery said to meet them.
"Hey Claire!" Clyde called out.
"Hey Clyde." I said waving him over towards me.
"So I'm guessing we're going to the bleachers?"
I nodded.
We waited awhile
"The warning bell will ring any minute now where are they?"
"There they are." I said smiling when I noticed that there hands were locked together but when Rylan noticed she immediately broke apart.
"Did you see that." I whispered to Clyde.
He nodded right as Rylan sat down.
"So what are you guys doing after school. Today?" Emmery asked
"I have dance."
"Film club."
"Book club"
"Why is everyone so quiet?" Rylan asked.
We all shrugged but we knew why, the reason people were acting so quiet was because people knew what Rylan did to herself...
"Well it's nice to have you back." I smiled
Just then the bell rang.
"I'll meet you in the library later." Rylan smiled then we all waved off.
The rest of the day was just like all the others... Math, science, history, choir then gym.
I walked to the parking lot and saw Scott.
While walking to him I noticed people talking about a the big feud that happened between Rylan and Kelsey... Great.
When we arrived at the dance studio it was like a switch inside Scott flipped.
"Make sure to get ready soon we have a long day." He announced to the group of competitive dancers.
I quickly changed into my dance shorts and sports bra and pulled my hair up.
I walked out and noticed everyone already stretching.
"Come on Claire we're already starting!" Scott commanded.
I quickly ran in while struggling to get my dance shoes on.
Stretching and warmups are easy.
"I'm leading todays class because Ms. Nicole is out sick." Scott announced.
I heard some sighs and groans from other dancers.
"Do I hear complaining?!" Scott yelled
"Claire we will start with your solo everyone sit near the wall and Amy start the music."
I nodded and took position.
Which in this case was off "stage" the music kicked in and my first move was a front handspring onto the stage. Then I had to do 8 pirouettes then drop to the splits. After that I did this hip hop dance move I learned a day before followed by a few more tumbling moves then hit my final pose.
"That wasn't perfect but it wasn't the worst thing I saw today." Scott clapped.
"What?" I sighed out of breath.
"You heard me didn't you?"
"You said I wasn't the worst you saw today when I was the only one that danced today so technically I'm the only one you saw today." I sighed
"Well you should've tried harder."
I nodded and moved back to my position.
5 more times I had to do that dance 5 more times till Scott said I was a tad bit above average.
Then we worked on our group number as well as our other group dance.
"Come on, work harder!!" Scott yelled basically the whole afternoon.
Assistance teacher Amy walked in saying it was 9:15 and it was time to go.
I usually am pretty bummed when dance is over but today I couldn't be happier.
I practically ran out, grabbed my stuff, and went straight outside to my mom.
"So how was it?"
"It was awful the whole time Scott was complaining how we weren't working as hard as he thought we could." I sighed while finishing my water bottle.
"That's weird usually he's so calm." She said while going into our neighborhood.
"Yeah usually"
When we pulled into the driveway I immediately went to shower.
When I was brushing my hair out after my shower my mom said "did you eat yet?!"
"No mom and I'm not hungry."
"Get downstairs!" She yelled
I trudged downstairs and sat down as my mom made me a turkey sandwich with veggies.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." She said while pouring me a glass of milk and placing it next to my food.
"So how was work?" I asked
"I didn't go in."
"Why?"
"I'm taking a break for a month." She smiled
"Oh..."
"But don't worry the first day in November I'll be back at the hospital."
I nodded.
"Well go get ready for bed I think I'm gonna go to bed myself."
I nodded and went upstairs to my room to be notified that Clyde has texted me...
So homecomings coming up...
