I looked in the mirror and smiled.
Tonight was the biggest school party of the year besides of course the end of the year party.
I decided tonight I wanted to dress up a little. So I brushed my hair again and parted it differently. I re-did my makeup and changed into a navy blue dress with low brown combat boots and put on my favorite necklace my dad gave me before he went to Afghanistan.
I looked in the mirror once more and twirled around before grabbing my brown leather bag and heading out.
I lived somewhat close to the school so walking was my best option besides I didn't feel like calling my mom who was at work to come and drive me.
Once I arrived to the school parking lot I heard the music blasting and people cheering. I began walking to the back of the school by the football field to were the party was being held.
I took a moment to breath before entering.
I looked by the behind the bleachers and noticed a group of people with lots of hair dye and dark makeup or what otherwise known as the "goths."
I glanced to my left towards the sound booth to were the teachers were talking and chaperoning.
Then I looked towards the field were kids were all spread out in different groups based off there interest.
For example the gamers were all hunched around the gates because somehow that was were the wifi was best occasionally you would hear them curse under there breath probably from losing.
Then the nerds were all by the picnic tables exchanging study guides besides for one who was actually dancing around besides the other people who weren't classified into a group.
I laughed under my breath before walking in, I hated walking into places by myself because people often stared mostly because I was considered "popular"
I glanced to the top of the bleachers to see a girl with a camera recording everything she would rotate to the dance floor then to anyone new who was walking in so right now she had the camera on me I ignored it as I walked past her to my friends who were all by the field goal. My friends and I are considered the popular dancers.
We sometimes will perform at pep rally's and musicals.
I would deny it if anyone ask me but I secretly love performing and I love the arts. I've been a dancer for as long as I remember and my moms also put me in acting and singing lessons across the years so let's just say I'm a natural performer but I don't like to admit to it.
"Hey Claire!" My best friend Scott yelled
"Hey Scott!" I said giving him a friendly hug. Scott and I have been friends for as long as I remembered mostly because he's my dance partner.
"I'm gonna get some water." I said while walking towards the water fountain which was by the bathrooms.
I got to the water fountains and all the nerds cleared away and let me go first.
I gave them a confused look
"No you guys can go first, you were here first."
They all gave me surprised looks I didn't know what to say so I just smiled in return.
Once they all got there water it was just me and the one kid I noticed at the beginning who was dancing instead of exchanging study guides.
Once I got my water I was gonna walk off when someone tapped my shoulder I turned around to come face to face with a pair of bright blue eyes hiding behind a pair of black glasses.
"Your purse." He said pointing to my purse which I left besides the water fountain.
"Oh thank you!" I said grabbing it.
"I'm Claire Tucker." I said putting my hand out.
He shook it while saying "Clyde, Clyde Johnson."
"Well it's nice meeting you Clyde and thanks again."
His face redden he obviously was shy.
"Yeah no problem."
I walked off thinking about what just happened.
When I walked back in the gates people were looking at there phones than at me.
I looked around confused until there attention turned towards one of my friends Kelsey who was the Captain of the cheerleading squad.
I brushed it off and walked back to my friends for the rest of the night I danced around and overall enjoyed myself.
I decided to leave around 9:40 because I wanted to leave before the party got "out of control"
I went home and got ready for bed and laid down I tried to go to bed but honestly the only thing that stayed in my head was Clyde and his bright blue eyes.
