Chapter 4:
That morning I woke up with a little more confidence.
I wasn't going to let a bad Monday ruin my week.
I changed into something a little nicer than yesterday.
I pulled black skinny jeans on with a laced navy blue shirt with black flats.
I played around with my hair till I liked the turnout.
I checked my phone and it was a text from Scott.
Scott: Need a ride to school?
I glanced out the window and it looked like a storm was coming in.
Claire: That'll be great. Thanks :)
Scott: No problem, be there in 10.
I slipped my phone into my bag and walked downstairs and grabbed an orange and a water bottle.
I usually don't eat much for breakfast.
I sat on the bench on my porch and waited for Scott to arrive.
Scotts 16 and is a Sophomore and I'm 15 and a freshman.
He pulled up into the driveway while I walked up.
When we got to the school we were a little early so we waited outside.
"Are you excited for the Christmas showcase?" He asked
"Yeah, I'm debating on whether or not If I should audition for the lead in the final number."
The final number is always my favorite it's so upbeat and really ties the show together.
"You so should I can see you nailing it." He said trying to motivate me.
"Yeah I guess I can give it a go"
His face lit up
Then he started talking loud "that's right my best friend Claire-"
"Shh." I whispered
"Why? can't a guy be happy for his best friend."
"Yeah it's just I have enough attention drawn to me right now."
"Oh the blog?" He asked
I nodded.
"Is it true, you know with you and that nerd?"
"No, of course not." I said looking at the ground smiling just thinking about Clyde.
He was about to say something when Rylan and a kid I don't recognize besides for the fact that he works at the coffee shop run past us followed behind them was the coach of the football team.
"Ignore them there just a bunch of nobodies causing trouble." Scott said while rolling his eyes.
I looked away and nodded "yeah you're right."
Today I was gonna go back to my old self and forget all this blog drama.
I walked inside the school and straight to my locker while walking I saw Clyde he gave me a faint smile as did I back towards him.
I then walked to my first class gym. I actually like gym mostly because It's basically a free period you do absolutely nothing productive in.
Besides for your occasional gym class basketball tournament.
Which no one liked not even the basketball players because they usually get stuck with nerds who don't like to show any effort and "cost" them the game.
But back to reality gym wasn't all that bad today we just did these workout stations which honestly weren't even that bad.
The bell rang and I walked out of the gym after already changing back into my everyday clothes.
I saw Kelsey and she waved me over.
Great...
I walked over "Hey Kelsey."
"Hey Claire." She said while be surrounded by cheerleaders and jocks.
Whenever I was around Kelsey and her friends i just stood around and acted like I was listening.
Mostly because her and her friends talked about the same thing.
"So what mall are we going to this weekend?"
"What color should I paint my nails next?"
"Does this jacket make me look fat?"
It was overwhelming.
Everyone's phones started buzzing that only meant one thing... Gossip Drone.
People started laughing and gave me looks but honestly I didn't care.
"Claire look there right you're back with the right crowd." She said while showing me her phone.
I smiled "yeah um I actually have to go to the library to get a book for my history report." I said noticing Clyde walking into the library.
"Okay see you at lunch."
I waved and walked to the library.
I walked up to the "nerds"
"Hey." they all looked at me confusedly till they noticed I was talking to Clyde.
"Oh hey I thought we didn't want to talk in public anymore?" He said pulling me away.
"We're not exactly in public I mean the only people who come in here are teachers and supposedly nerds."
He laughed "so this is our place to meet up?" He asked.
I smiled and nodded "yup this is our place to meet up."
He glanced down at his phone that just went off and sighed.
"Look they keep on posting about you, and only you."
"It's fine, honestly I couldn't care less anymore." I said brushing yet another blog post off.
"See that's what I like about you-" his phone went off again.
He looked a little upset and mumbled something before walking off.
I checked my phone and this time the post was about Clyde.
I stormed out of the library and straight to my next class, after class I was gonna find Rylan.
My next class was science and we were working on these experiments.
I sat down next to Jordan who was just about to mix two chemicals that was sure to make a mess.
"No don't do that." I said taking them out of his hands.
"Woah sorry mom." He said sitting back watching me basically do the whole thing by myself again.
"So you gonna help or?"
"Nah I rather watch." He smirked.
The rest of the day was a blur the only Things I remember are Kelsey flirting with Brody during lunch, Me walking in on the goths doing there eyeliner in the bathroom and hissing at me, then Monica Reed aka biggest diva in the school burst out crying in the middle of a Spanish test because she spilled ink on her skirt.
Lastly Clyde getting targeted on the blog all day which is why I'm marching my way down the halls after the dismissal bell to go find Rylan.
There she was about to exit when I stopped her.
"What the heck!" I yelled pulling her aside.
"What did something happen?" She mocked while smirking.
I rolled my eyes "Look you can mess with me all you want but don't mess with my friends!" I stated. "I- I could expose you any moment."
Who am I anymore? Seriously am I threatening her?
She mumbled something then said "fine, in one agreement. You don't tell anyone I'm the blogger, and I don't post anything about you or your friends."
I thought for a moment.
There has to be a catch but there wasn't...
"Deal, now I have to go but you better keep that promise." I walked off to meet up with Scott in the parking lot.
He was also driving me home.
"You look mad." He stated while beginning to drive.
"Nope actually relieved." I said.
I didn't have to deal with the drama anymore and I could go back to my friends and my normal life.
When he pulled up to my driveway he reminded me to start practicing for the final song solo.
I nodded and walked in.
"Hey mom, I'm home." I yelled
No respond. She must have a long day at the hospital.
I walked up to my room took a shower, made dinner, then changed into pajamas.
I got in my bed and opened my laptop.
I was gonna watch Netflix when I noticed Gossip Drone updated again.
Great...
When I read what the post said
My mouth practically dropped open.
No no no no this isn't happening.
I kept reading it over and over.
This is for Claire Tucker. You probably won't forgive me but I just wanted to say sorry.
And to all my fans and subscribers this will be my last post.
No No No!
I jumped up to my phone and knew what was going happen and I was right.
My phone was going off like crazy.
From messages on Facebook saying stuff likeThanks a lot now we get no more gossip drone.
I hope she keeps on posting about you.
Wow so uncool...
Ugh I hate you!
Great no more gossip drone cause of you.
I hope you are enjoying this...
Wow and too think you're nice
Wow little miss perfect finally got what she wants you happy?!
I stopped at that last one and threw my phone.
I leaned against the wall and slid down till I hit the ground and began crying at first I tried not too but just thinking about all the hate I'm gonna get at school tomorrow and weeks after that made me feel sick. I pulled my knees up to me and cried some more. She probably did this on purpose.
I just sat there crying for awhile until I glanced up to my one wall filled with pictures right above my study desk and saw a picture of my whole dance team holding a 1st place trophy. I smiled that was about 2 years ago.
I then looked at another picture of Scott and I in mid air doing a back flip in front of the bean in Chicago right before our dance competition. I smiled while wiping away a tear.
Then I looked at my all time favorite picture of me on my dads shoulders.
He was in his military outfit and I was waving an American flag. I smiled I remember that day it was the Fourth of July I was around 6.
My life used to be so peaceful besides of course when my dad was departed.
I looked down at my phone after getting it from when I threw it and it kept on buzzing. I slid it away and stood up.
I walked downstairs and saw that my mom still wasn't home. I walked down to the basement a laid on the couch.
I normally don't go downstairs just because it reminds me to much of when I was younger and my dad was still around.
While lying down I looked around the basement and saw so many things that brought memories back.
For example my endless amount of trophies stored up in a case.
Then my dads old uniform.
I felt my eyelids get heavier and I must've fell asleep because that's the last thing I remembered.
