"We need to talk." Liam says, pulling me aside in the hall. I gulp, I know this is about Isaac. I channel into his mind just to make sure. His thoughts are not pretty. I shake it off anyway, and pretend nothing's wrong.
"Sure, what's up?" He looks at me, like a puppy dog. Big eyes, long face, glossy pupils, lip and all. My heart melts and he takes my hand. I don't let go. He replies,
"What's going on with you and Isaac?" I gulp, looking at our hands intertwined. Liam brings my face up to his. I'm looking at him, inches from his face. We just stand there, looking at each other. It's like we're trying to communicate through our eyes. It's not working.
Suddenly, Cassidy comes running up, tears in her eyes, smile on her face. She seems so excited.
"What's going on, Cassidy?" I said, as she dances around, like an excited puppy. She grabs my wrists,
"He's back!" What? What does she mean?
"Who's back?" I asked, more scared than excited. Cassidy blurts out a name, pulling me along. THe name she speaks is,
"Derek!" She pulls me to the other end of the hall, and I bubble with excitement.
We walk up to Scott greeting Derek, patting him on the shoulder,
"Welcome back, bud." Derek smiles, and as soon as he sees Cassidy again, he pulls her into a side hug, not wanting to let go. They happily rejoice for probably the fifth time and when Derek sees me, he smiles. I smile back, happy for Cassidy.
Then it clicks.
Derek was the third one Hayden brought back. Not Isaac. Derek. She somehow lured him here, and now she's going to him.
She's going to use him, Allison, and Aidan. They're her bait. She must be using them to distract us from something. Something bigger. And as we're all here, welcoming back Derek, she's planning something. I can feel it.
I have to warn them.
Before it's too late.
I choke out to Derek,
"Yeah, welcome back."
