I glanced up at the clock seeing I had just about three minutes left in sixth period and then I could leave. Ashton was coming home with me because I didn’t have work today. It‘s been a little over a month since we met and it‘s been one of the best months of my life. I haven’t hurt myself since Ashton and I met, he knows how to cheer me up. Interrupting my thoughts was a loud, long buzzing noise, and I knew it was finally time to go. I quickly gathered my belongings and sped walk to my car, where I was going to meet Ashton. I tried getting to my car without being noticed by unwanted people, but I had hoped far too soon.

“Well, I haven’t seen you in a while.” Nate said in a taunting voice. Nate was one of the people who consistently picked on me. I continued to walk and tried to ignore him, which was a bad choice on my part. Before I knew it I was grabbed by my backpack and yanked down to the floor. “Are you ignoring me? You know how I feel about being ignored.” Nate said in a threatening voice. I cowered back because he was now inches from my face. “I’m sorry.” I whispered. I tried to stand back up and walk to my car but as soon as I got back on my feet I was forcefully shoved back on the ground. “Now you’re leaving? You’re just like your father.” At this point I began to sob, not being able to contain the tears that were dispersing from my eyes. While my face was buried in my hands, I felt someone fall next to me. I looked beside me to see that it was Nate. He was holding the side of his face like it had been punched or something. I looked up to see and angry Ashton clenching his fists. “Don’t ever touch her again!” He yelled in a threatening tone. I cowered back a little. He scarred me when he yelled. Ashton’s facial expression immediately changed when he looked over at me. He gave me a sympathetic look and reached out his hand for me to take. I hesitantly took it, looking over at Nate, scarred of what he would do if I got up. When I was lifted to my feet, Ashton and I tried to push through the crowed that had gathered around the scene we had made.

We made it into the car and for a few minutes we just sat in silence. “Who is he?” Ashton asked in a calming voice. “Nate Young. He’s one of the people who think it would be hilarious to pick on the broken girl.” I said letting another tear escape my eyes, I had still been crying from earlier. Today’s an emotional day. “Look at me.” Ashton instructed. I shook my head, not wanting to make eye contact at the moment. “Brooklyn, please?” He asked, trying to be gentle, but I can tell he’s still angry. I looked up at him and met his eyes. “You’re not broken, you’re just hurt. You need healing, and I‘m going to try and help you heal. Please stop crying love.” He said wiping my tears away. Slowly, the tears stopped falling and I smiled at Ashton. He returned the smile and kissed my cheek. I began to drive to Hayden’s daycare and turned on the radio. A new song came on the radio by One Direction called What Makes You Beautiful. I turned it up, and started singing. I like to sing. I turned my head slightly to see Ashton was singing along as well. I tried my best to single his voice out and try to hear him sing, but we arrived at Hayden’s daycare center too quickly. After getting Hayden, I picked up Conner and drove home.

When we got to my house Conner claimed he was ‘starving’ so I decided to start dinner, and Ashton helped me. “What do you want to make?” Ashton questioned as I got out a mixing bowl. “Does breakfast for dinner sound good?” I asked Ashton and Conner. They both agreed, I knew Conner would because Conner loves breakfast at anytime of the day. I decided to make homemade waffles. I poured some flour in the bowl. My face grew a devilish smirk as I grabbed a handful of flour. “What are you doing?” Ashton questioned with a confused face. I Threw the handful at Ashton’s face and began to laugh. He closed his eyes and mouth tight, and just stood frozen for a few seconds. When he opened his eyes it caused me to laugh even more. “Oh, it’s funny?” He asked teasingly as he grabbed a handful of flour. My face immediately became serious. “No Ashton, I’m sorry. Please don’t-” My sentence was cut short by flour hitting my face. Ashton began chuckling at me. “Not so funny on the receiving end is it?” He teased. I smirked again and grabbed more flour and threw it all over him. He did the same and soon it turned into a war. By the time We had finished the war, we were completely out of flour. We were covered in it. When I soon realized I was out of ammunition I tackled Ashton to the floor. I was winning for a few seconds until Ashton decided to flip us around so that he was now on top of me. “You cheated.” I pouted. We both laughed at each other and when the chuckling slowly stopped, his face inched closer and closer to mine. My head slowly rose from the floor and my eyes fluttered shut. “What are you doing?” I heard Conner ask in a teasing tone. Ashton pretty much leaped off of me and I stood up instantly. I dusted some flour off of my shirt and turned to Ashton. “We um. The um. You’re out of flour.” Ashton said stuttering on his words. I giggled a bit.

“Hey buddy, do you want to go to Chuck E. Cheese instead?” I smiled at Conner as he shook his head yes enthusiastically. “Okay, go start your bath.” I instructed. I tapped my little brother’s butt as he ran up the stairs. I turned towards Ashton. “Do you want to go?” I smiled. “Sure, but I think I need to clean up.” I chuckled and ruffled his hair cause flour to fly everywhere. I pointed to my backyard. Ashton ran out to my backyard with me following closely behind. I turned on my hose and began to spray Ashton when he wasn’t looking. He ran over to me, took the hose from my hands, and began to spray me. We were both laughing hysterically as we were both spraying each other with water. Ashton picked me up by my hips and threw me over his shoulder while spraying me. After a few minutes of me punching his back I gave up and he put back on the ground. I put Ashton’s clothes in the dryer and bathed Conner. After Conner, then Hayden. After Ashton got his clothes we were off the Chuck E. Cheese.
