NIALL: I walk into 17’Th Street with the boy’s right behind me. They didn’t want to be here, but I got paid last week and I’ve been creaming over a snapback I saw in here a few weeks ago. We all go off our separate ways, and I head off to find my hat. I’ll admit, I’m the kind of guy that likes to walk like I’m the owner of a certain air of swagger. I make sure to lean my shoulders back with each step and wear a permanent mask of “cool.” I don’t think I’m the shit, actually I think I’m the farthest thing from it, but it’s not my style to let people I barely know have a peek at my insecurities. It’s an Obey hat, but it’s neon colors and I just think it’s the coolest thing ever, so I grab it off the shelf and head off to the checkout counter. I don’t know why I recognize you, but I do. I don’t know why I feel the need to say anything, but I do. I see that you’re buying a set of long board wheels and a backpack. I tap your shoulder so that you’ll turn around to face me, but immediately regret it once I do. I don’t even know what I want to say to you. You’re sweet, flowery smelling, perfume slaps me in the face like the October wind. It’s nice. It’s very, you. You’re beautiful hair is cascading down your shoulder. You’re not the kind of girl I would normally be attracted to. You’re perfect, flawless, skin contrasts against me inked muscles, but I still think you’re gorgeous. You look like the kind of girl that would be intimidated by my appearance, but you don’t seem to be. You actually smile at me. “Hey, you go to my school right?” She nods, “Yeah I do, my name is Y/N, what’s yours?” You hold your hand out for me to shake, so I do. “I’m Niall, Niall Horan.” The cashier puts your bag on the counter for you. “Well, it was nice to meet you Niall. Maybe we’ll have a class together this year.” With that, you grab your bag and prance out of the store happily. I can’t help but watch you as you’re leaving. The boys come up while I’m not paying attention and ask me what I’m staring at. I just sort of brush them off because I know they would make fun of me for it.
LOUIS: You know, you really can kind of be a bitch, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. You’re not the kind of bitch that’s mean to someone for their outward appearance. You’re the type of bitch that doesn’t put up with peoples bullshit, and I admire that even if my bullshit isn’t an exception. I pull my chair up next to yours, just like I do every day before class, but its different this time. This time you actually acknowledge me. “What does that one tattoo mean?” My eyes light up when I finally hear your voice for the first time. You’re just a quiet little girl who sits in the back of the class and never says a word. “Which one?” I ask eagerly, ready to answer whatever question you have for me. You point to the tallies on my shoulder and I smile. “It’s actually one tally for everyone I know that’s survived cancer.” There are only five tallies, and I wish there were two more, but they have their own special hearts over my chest. You nod and smile a little, “That’s amazing. I’m Y/N by the way.” I laugh and nod my head “Yeah I know your name sweetie. My name is Louis.” I hold my hand out to shake yours and you accept the gesture. You’re palm is so soft and full of life. No one has ever asked what that tattoo means, and the fact that you did just proves that I was right about you.
ZAYN: I sneak into the gas station with my hood over my head and go straight to the checkout counter to ask for a box of Marlboro. I hand her my credit card so that she can check me out. As I’m about to grab them and leave I see you out of the corner of my eye. You’re just sporting jeans and a t-shirt with your hair done up in a ponytail. To be honest, I’ve had a crush on you since kindergarten, but I don’t even know your name. I take my cigarettes and change from the counter, but you stop me before I can walk out. “Ew, Marlboro.” You laugh which makes me smile, “Yeah, you smoke?” You shrug and smirk at me, “Yeah, but I make it a point not to smoke shitty cigarettes.” I take a step toward you to press on. So then who do you light?” I point at the wall of boxes behind the counter. “Oh please, I don’t buy fags at a gas station,” you must see that I’m confused because you continue, “Ever been to a smoke shop?” I shake my head no and you smirk again before grabbing my hand, “Come on.” You pull me forward and out the door, “My name is Y/N.” I smile to myself because I finally know your name, and the captain of the debate team smokes.
HARRY: It’s midnight, I’m lying in bed tired, but I’m texting you. I think that an infant would understand that I wouldn’t be up this late if I didn’t have a crush on you. You were obviously born yesterday though. I mean, I know when we met that you didn’t like me as any more than a friend, but I’ve been able to change that with every girl I’ve ever liked before. I text you, “Do you remember the first time we met?” and wait a few seconds before you say “Yah.” I begin to call you up, you don’t answer though, so I’m left to assume that you fell asleep. I figure I should go to sleep too so I plug my phone in and close my eyes, but I can’t get that first meeting out of my head. You sauntered into class with All American Rejects T-shirt and ripped jeans. The curious thing was that you had a pastel colored floral backpack. Everyone kept looking at you like you were strange, but I thought you were cute. That’s why I walked up to you. You didn’t think anything of it though. You just started talking to me like we’d been best friends for years without a care in the world. My appearance didn’t seem to faze you a bit. You weren’t appalled by the ink imbedded in my skin, nor we’re you turned off by the metal in my lip. Of course, I was hoping to get in your pants because you seemed naïve enough to let me. You’re definitely smarter than you look though. Seven months later and I still haven’t boned you. It’s not too hard to fall asleep after that. I just think about that smell that so obviously yours, that smell of cinnamon and autumn. I think about that look of yours, band tee’s and bows. I think about that feeling of yours, that feeling that everything’s going to be fine, even when it’s not. I think about you, just you, and how you fucked with my system. You and your floral backpack.
LIAM: “Yeah, I want it there.” I point to the spot on my bicep that the tattoo artist is getting ready to ink. He nods and begins to clean the needles. Before you ask, no I don’t know why I feel the need to get do many. Maybe I like the pain, maybe I like the memory. I haven’t quite figured it out yet. It gives me a sort of rush to know that it’s something that can’t be undone. I start daydreaming while I’m waiting and the next thing I know I’m startled by the sound of you stumbling into the tattoo parlor. I mean it in the nicest way when I say you are hammered to the extreme. Makeup is smeared bellow your eyes by what used to be tears. One of your heels is missing the heel and it doesn’t look like you even know. Not to mention you dress is falling off your shoulders. Whoever left you alone like this must really want you dead because If I hadn’t of found you, you would have been. I get up from the chair while the artist is still getting ready, and go over to help you. You pull yourself towards me by my arm, but fall on my chest when you let go. “Are you all right babe?” You look up and begin crying. “No, I just wanted to get a tattoo, but my boyfriend broke up with me.” You sob into my shoulder, and I honestly have no idea what to do. “Well so what! You can get a tattoo without him! Come on.” You squeal and I lead you over to the chair I was originally in. “What do you want?” I ask once you’re finally sitting down. “I want my boyfriend’s name on my…” You giggle and point to your ass, at which point I decide it’s probably a better idea to take you home and save you the painful wakeup call in the morning. I eventually end up learning your name when I finally find your apartment and your room mate answers. She lets me in and thanks me a thousand times before I can finally get back out the door.
