Divided Before Coming Back Together (The Fourth Night)

Blanche's POV

I stifled a yawn with my hand and glanced at the clock on my scroll. 2:37am. "Do you mind if I have some coffee Professor Ozpin?" I yawned again. "Of course," he reached under his desk and pulled another mug out. He handed it to me and I gently created some wind to chill the liquid until it was ice cold. Gulping it down, I breathed a sigh of relief as the cold shocked my system awake. I shuffled over to the couch in Ozpin's office and I plopped down on it.

Ozpin looked at his watch before glancing at me. "Blanche, you should probably go to bed, it's quite late. I'll call you up tomorrow morning." I nodded tiredly before glancing at Mercury and Emerald. Following my line of sight, Ozpin sighed and shook his head at the two in question. "Emerald, Mercury, you will be staying in the spare room below my office. We will discuss more tomorrow." "I'll have two of my men guard the door," General Ironwood said stiffly,"If it were up to me I would have you under arrest but you've been pardoned by Professor Ozpin. Consider yourselves lucky."

Professor Goodwitch untied the rope binding Emerald's legs together, and I walked towards the elevator as the two shakily stood up. I waited for the general and professor to lead Emerald and Mercury over before Ozpin pressed a button on his desk and the doors closed. As the elevator slowly descended, I could feel Mercury's eyes on me. I glanced over to see a dark storm brewing in his grey eyes. I sighed internally because I knew that as soon as we saw each other in our dreams he would have a fit. I bid the four of them good night as the doors opened up to the first floor, and I walked off towards my dorm.

Time Skip

I woke up on Mercury's couch again before immediately dodging a lamp that came sailing in my direction. "This is all your fault!" Mercury bellowed at me. Why did I know this would happen? I groaned out loud and continued to dodge the various objects being thrown at me while he chased me around his apartment. Taking advantage of an open window in the kitchen, I leapt out and floated outside, just out of arms reach. Sitting in a cross-legged position, I watched annoyed as Mercury continued to pace back and forth spewing curses.

"You know that I had to stop you three right?" I growled at him,"I'm training to be a Huntress, do you really expect me to turn a blind eye when people are planning to destroy Vale?" "You could've told me!" he yelled. "AND WHAT?!" I shrieked at him, my patience having run out,"WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE? TOLD CINDER? KILLED ME?" He stopped short at that and looked at me with eyes filled with hurt. "No," he whispered, deflating suddenly,"I could never hurt you. I-I...I don't know what I would've done."

I sighed heavily and floated back towards the window. Mercury grabbed my hand and helped me through before crushing me in a hug. "Mercury I can't breathe," I wheezed out. He loosened his grip but kept his arms around me. "Promise me you'll help me figure this out," he whispered against my hair,"I don't know how to not to be a criminal. I've been a thief and muscle for hire ever since my dad trained me." I wrapped my arms around him,"Well it'll be hard but as long as you try, you'll be able to succeed. Come on, let's clean your place up." "Why? It's not like the place is trashed in real life," he grumbled. My tail lashed around and my ears twitched slightly,"Because I hate messes."

I grabbed a paper bag and started putting the larger shards of ceramic and glass into it, shaking my head at the mess he had made while chasing me around. I squeaked as he suddenly lifted me up, causing me to drop my bag in surprise. My tail thrashing around as he carried me to his room,"I'm not ready for that you know!" I yelled as he dropped me down on to the bed.

Mercury's POV

I spluttered with laughter and laid down next to her,"I wasn't planning on doing that!" She gave me a sour look and punched my arm,"What was I supposed to think when you suddenly picked me up and started going to your room!" I chuckled and pecked her on the lips, making her blush a dark pink. "So when did you find out that the three of us had infiltrated Beacon?" I laid on my back, my hands behind my head. She turned to lay next to me, and rested her head on my arm,"I found you guys in a courtyard the first day you came." "Wow...and here I thought we did a good job at blending in," I commented. "It was actually purely by accident," she mumbled. I sat up, looking at her amused,"Wait seriously?" "Mhmm I passed by an open window and heard you guys talking."

I shook my head at her before laying back down,"Don't tell Emerald or Cinder that. They'd both be furious." I drew her closer by looping an arm around her shoulders. "Well looks like Ozpin forcibly handed you a second chance at life, so let's see where this goes," she replied. I kissed the top of her head and we cuddled the rest of the night.
