[ON HIATUS] We're Not Dreaming (Mercury x OC)

Blanche's POV

Mercury and I caught up to Team RWBY. "Hey," Blake greeted me,"What mission is your team going on?" "Ozpin gave us....special circumstances," I toyed with my pouch,"Mercury and I will be joining the four of you on your mission, and our two teams will be doing a joint mission within Vale." Blake looked at me curiously as we reached the courtyard. "That wasn't exactly uplifting," Yang mumbled, most likely talking about whatever Ozpin had said to them. "But it's the truth," Blake replied. My guess was correct. "It's gonna be tough, but I know we can do it!" 

"Hey Team CFVY's back!" a student ran past us. The six of us rushed over to the throng of students, and saw the second year team walking through. "Velvet? Are you okay?" Blake rushed up to her fellow Faunus. "I'm fine, I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me," she motioned towards the giant man. "Your mission was supposed to end a week ago. What happened?" Weiss looked at her in concern. "N-nothing happened," she replied before hesitating,"It was just.....there were just so many..." Upon seeing RWBY's collectively worried faces, she quickly continued,"Oh but don't worry, you first years are just shadowing Huntsmen so you should be fine." "Riiiiiiight," Yang said skeptically. "I should go. Be safe okay?" Velvet gave RWBY a wave goodbye and stopped in front of me. "You. Don't do anything stupid okay?" I smiled softly and gave her a hug,"I'll be alright Vel. Promise."

We continued to walk towards the airship landing pads, only to run into RWBY accidentally. Glancing around, I saw the four of them with various 'oh no' expressions, and as I turned back towards the ships, Oobleck appeared in front of us. "Why hello everyone! Who's ready to fight for their lives?" Upon seeing Oobleck, Mercury comically fainted beside me.

I hauled him back up as RWBY attempted to compose themselves. They still had horrified expressions on their faces though. "Professor Oobleck...?" Weiss hesitantly greeted him. Oobleck began his normal rapid pace of talking,"Yes, I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary, girls, seeing as you've opted to shadow Huntsmen on what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission. I can assure you, we will not be establishing a single base of operations; rather, we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wasteland and making camp in any inhabitable locations we may stumble upon. I packed all of our essentials myself, plotted our air course, and readied the airship. And..." he zoomed up to Weiss' face,"It's Doctor Oobleck. I didn't earn a PhD for fun, thank you very much!" He backed away again.

"Uhh...." "Come now, children; according to my schedule, we are already three minutes behind! ........Schedule!" Oobleck blurred to the airship docked up ahead, leaving behind a trail of dust. "Well, alright then! Looks like we're going to save the world with Doctor Oooobleck- okay yeah when you say it out loud it sounds worse," Ruby tried to be optimistic but ended up hanging her head depressed. "Wait, didn't he say Huntsmen? There's another professional on this trip?" Blake eyed the airship. "Save the world?" We all turned around to see Nora approaching, the rest of JNPR not far behind. Nora adopted a dramatic position,"You're going on world-saving missions without us? I'm hurt... sad! Maybe a little hungry? That last one's not your fault, though. Ren..." she growled that last part to her soft-spoken partner, who crossed his arms and turned away.

"Sounds exciting," Jaune smiled at us,"Where ya going?" "Oh, just outside the kingdom...." "Hey so are we!" Nora replied. Mercury and I began making our way towards the airship, waving goodbye to JNPR as well as Sun and Neptune who were approaching the small group. We left RWBY to their chatter, and stepped aboard the ship.

"Hello Qrow," I greeted the unkempt man who was lounging in a corner. "Hey Blanche," he lifted a hand lazily,"Hello Mercury." Mercury gave him a nod as Oobleck dashed out the door to yell at RWBY to hurry up. A few moments later, they were all aboard the ship. Yang and Ruby instantly launched themselves at Qrow, yelling joyfully. "Alright you two, settle down," he smiled at them. Raising his head, he called out to the rest of us,"Ok everyone get your asses over here. Now, Mercury and Blanche, you two know what kind of hell is about to go down. You four though, there's something Ozpin didn't tell you before sending you out here."
