Chapter Thirty-five

This day is the 25th of April. I have the appointment today. I pack my pink leather handbag with my wallet, phone, gum, my iPad and the files. I look around my room for anything else. I walk into my bathroom and apply some foundation, eyeliner to the lash line, smudge it out a little and then apply some mascara. I apply a pink lipstick to my lips. I then curl my hair and put it in a ponytail. I walk into my walk-in-closet and search through the shelves. The outfit I go for is a pair of white jeans, light blue blouse and a pair of grey heels.

The drive is not that far from home. I arrive at a weird shaped building. It is a white building with beautiful designs. I take a deep breath before walking inside of the building. I walk towards the reception of the building. An older lady who is probably in her early fifties. She is looking very focused behind her glasses as she looks on the computer screen in front of her. "Hello, how can I help you?" She asks when she notices me. "Good morning, I am here to see Mr. de Bruin." She smiles. "I will tell him that you are here, you can sit down in the lobby." She says with a smile and points towards a big space with couches and chairs. The lobby has soft couches with a unique vintage design. A girl with very high heels walks by with her phone against her ear. A few man with suites walk by and sit down in the couch next to me. "Ms. DeLafayette?" I nod and he shakes my hand. We walk up to I think his office. I have been here several other times. That was on the fifth floor for some advice on some of the collections. We enter his office and I see a not so pretty plain office. It has a few little decorations here and there like paintings of fashion items. "Please, take a seat." He says gesturing to a chair in front of his desk.

I see a little silver picture frame with a picture of two cute little girls, they must be twins since they look exactly alike. He smiles as I give him the files of some financials, designs, collection statistics and archived collections that haven't been out online. "In the Valentino Warehouse it is all about classic, beauty and style." He says. "If you sign the contract, we will expect the best of the best. I hope you understand that." He says. His English is really good for someone that isn't from here. I smile understandingly and nod. "We have the best people from celebrities to high end fashion designers come to our building." He hands me some pictures of the collections. I nod as I look them through. I give them back and smile at him. He hands me the contract that he has got Mr. Hafthings to sign already. I have read the copies through so that doesn't take me ages to do so. I look up at him before signing and then set my autograph on the line.

"I am looking forward to work together with you." He says and shakes my hand when everything has been taken care of.

I have exited the building and make a quick call with my mother. We have planned a lunch to celebrate. I enter my car to drive towards my house. There is a lot of traffic on the roads. I step inside the hotel when I have arrived. I sit down with a smile when Jef arrives from behind the reception. "A letter has arrived for your family." I smile and thank him. I open the envelope and see a card for the funeral. I sigh and lay it down. The only family that I have lost that was relatively close where my grandfather and my great grandmother. Mother arrives and sits down in a seat in front of me. I give her the card. She sighs and smiles at me.

We have eaten lunch and I walk into the house. I tidy everything up and decide to watch a tv show on the tv. I turn on the television and lay down in my bed. Starting up Netflix to search for a movie and realize that it is hard to decide which one to choose.

After the film, I decide to get ready for bed. I have a pretty good feeling about the studio that we will visit tomorrow and the university. I take of my makeup and brush my teeth after a long warm shower. I change in a pink night gown that has white lace along the v-neck line. I brush my hair through and then get in my bed. I turn my phone off and then put it on the charger.

My eyes close and I fall into a deep sleep...
