Chapter 9: return of Ryan. King of all da bitchez

Ugh. Every time I move there's a cringe on my face. I feel like vomiting but I'm still hella hungry. Then I notice Mackenzie laying next to me. My worries all seem to melt away as he pulls me closer

"Morning" he whispered opening one eye. Since when are guys like gods in the morning?

"Don't remind me" I whine and he just laughs a little

"Are you ok?" he asked suddenly. All humour gone in his tone

I shrugged "yeah I guess" all I really wanted to do was lay here with Mackenzie all day. Then the door bursts open

"Waddup my buddies!" Ryan half yells. It hurts my head and Mackenzie notices as I wince

"Shhh" he whispers to Ryan

"Oh sorry Dee-dee" he whispers. He kicks off his shoes and hops under the covers. Far out. I didn't know that my regular queen bed could hold this many people. He snuggled in between me and Mackenzie. I laughed. This was basically us. Ever since grade 5. On time Ryan was being bullied by this really tough and 'spit on your grave' kinda guy. And the bully had pulled Ryan's pants down in front of the girl he had been crushing on. We had a sleepover at his house and little me was trying to calm him and Mackenzie was pacing around the room. Poor Ryan cried his heart out and Mackenzie just went up to the bully the next day. It took the bully two seconds to try and twist Mackenzie into a pretzel. I stepped in and under his strict laws 'no hitting girls' so I hit him. Haha. Ryan didn't know what to do. That was a great day for us little guys

"Mackenzie told me what happened yesterday" Ryan said, turning to look at me. My eyes flicked to Mackenzie who took a sudden interest in the roof

"Do you think it has anything to do with Melissa?" Ryan asked. Mackenzie tensed and tried to cover it up. But too late. He got up and punched my wall. He screamed as soon as he did and I got up. Slowly. To help him. He should know by now, any other wall an he would have punched straight through it. But my walls are cement. I know it's odd and in the mornings my walls actually are wet. But off topic.

"Idiot" I muttered as I got the first aid kit. Ryan just sat there laughing.

"Shut up you" Mackenzie demanded but it made him laugh even harder. Ryan had a contagious laugh. The one that made you laugh until you cried and your sides hurt. Mackenzie fell back on the bed and slapped him on the forehead.

At school later that day though,

"What do you mean your breaking up with me!?" Melissa shrieked I stood there smirking the whole time

"You" she pointed a finger at me and pushed passed Mackenzie "you did this" it was so amusing. She got up in my face and I just stayed calm as a cucumber. And I know it made her feel as though she was being dragged through every knife, sword and dagger in the world. I wasn't going o stop there

"Or maybe it's just cause your not as pretty as you thought you were. Or. Oh I know! you may be pretty on the outside but on the inside, your just a mean, dark shell that only feels happy when everyone around them is miserable" I took a look at Joy and she was torn "joy sees it too" her head snapped up and she looked frightened.

"I-I" joy stuttered then she exhaled triumphantly "Melissa, I have been there for you all these years hoping that you would one day see what you were doing was wrong. I spent hours on end trying to make myself look perfect just so I could be around you. But I don't need you. I shouldn't change myself for you." She was no longer my little helper when ever Melissa was near. No this was Joy 2.o. The person that she wants to be. She turned to Ryan and her lips formed a straight line, she blushed and I knew what was happening
