Chapter 24: so it does get worse.
28 days. The number of days that Kayla has been missing.
22 day. The number of days I haven't talked to Mackenzie.
Lindsay has called the police. And they are doing all they can. But its not enough. Nothing is ever enough! I hate everyone. I hate everything! I stare down the driveway as Lindsay and dad pull out. They were going on a four day trip for their anniversary. I don't see why. Dad doesn't deserve anything. Look at what he has done.
"Hey dee-dee" Jason calls from the other side of the street. I look at him through the blurriness of my eyes and look away making my way towards the front door. But I'm stopped by him.
"Wow dee-dee. What is going on?" he asks as he takes in my look. My hair is a complete mess, I'm still wearing pyjamas from a few days ago. But I think the most prominent feature is the almost purple bags under my eyes. Yeah like twenty sleepless nights do that. He gripped my shoulders. And I just looked at him blankly
"Have you heard anything from Kayla?" I ask him
"No" he says his head bowing slightly. It didn't hurt as much as it should have. I think I'm too used to it now. I slump back into the house with Jason following me.
"Are you hungry?" he asked me rushing towards the kitchen. I haven't eaten in a few days. If I had. It just came back up.
"No" I sigh as I shuffle up the stairs. He came in to Kayla's room as I sit cross legged on the floor. I stared at the Xbox. This was all because of that. Maybe if I can fix it... she'll come back... who am I kidding.
"Delilah" he sighs "do you want me to get Mackenzie?"
"To die?" I say. No emotion. No movement.
"What?" he asks as of he didn't hear me
"It doesn't matter" I sigh
"Okay. He'll be here in a minute" Jason says as he walks out. A part of me wants to stop him. But majority rules. The rest of my body wants Mackenzie. And that stops me from saying anything.
As promised Mackenzie walks through my door slowly.
"Delilah..." He starts. I changed my mind
"Get out" I whisper.its loud enough for him to hear.
"No" he says firmly. I want to burn him. "You need my help"
"Wow. Your help? why would you do that?" I say sarcastically
"Because your my best friend. No my girl..."
"That you cheated on with the first whore you can find" I finish his sentence with no effort and I can sense him stiffen
"I..I" he stutters.
"Leave now" I order.
"Delilah" he stands his ground "we need to talk about that"
"Ok so, when my sister goes missing, you suddenly decide to have sex with some one you know I don't like" he winced as my words hit him.
"I know how bad that sounds" he sighs "and I deserve nothing more than to lose you. But it's not actually what you think it is"
"Oh so you were cheating on me before Kayla went missing?" I ask never letting my eyes leave the Xbox.
"No. Delilah. I never cheated on you" he says. I don't believe him. He's never lied to me before so why would he start now? shut up. He's lying.
"If you don't leave now. I'm going to stab you" I told him and that only made him step closer to me
"You don't believe me?" he asked me in disbelief. I want to disagree with him.
