Chapter 22: it's really him!

"Um... what?" I asked still confused.

"Delilah" tears sprang to the mans eyes. "You've grown so much" I bet him to tears

"Dad!" I cried and hugged him. it was really him! he'd finally come home! a woman cleared her throat and my eyes widened as I saw a woman and a girl standing just outside the door way.

"This is her" he stood back and presented me to them proudly. The woman's face softened and the girl shrugged and smiled

"Hi" she chirped. She looked about fourteen. This was Kayla. My little sister. I ignored her outstretched hand and pulled her into a hug.

"Delilah?" she presumed. And I smiled bigger than I thought I could

"Kayla" I laughed. The name slipped off my tongue as easy a Mackenzie did. I let her go and was crushed by Lindsay's hug.

"No" I heard my dad say mysteriously "Mackenzie Martinez" I smiled.

"Hi" Mackenzie grinned.

"I haven't seen you since you were two" dad laughed.

"Um... me either" I laughed an it seemed to make dad uneasy. Then I realised that he took it the wrong way

"No no I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that!" I cried. He shrugged and let the smile return to his face then his eyes widened

"W-where's your mother?" he asked looking around and putting his guard up. I sighed.

"She left" I shrugged

"She what?!" dad cried

"Yeah she had enough of me. She just. Left" I explained and his expression changed to such sorrow.

"I'm so so sorry Delilah" he stressed

"Dad it's dee-dee" I smiled and Kayla laughed.

"I know that problem" I looked at her almost questioning her with my eyes.

"Kayla just seems too formal for me. I prefer Kay" I finally noticed her attire. Her black hair was tied back in a messy pony tail with a bang that covered her entire forehead and in her hand was a 3DS XL. Underneath her black zip up jacket was a minecraft top and instead of the skimpy skirt that girls her age were wearing these days, were jean shorts that reached her knees. Yes! she was clean! apparently a gamer. I smiled.

"What?" she asked widening her eyes and trying to cover her face and the first thing I noticed. She was self conscious. I don't see why though. She was so adorably gorgeous.

"Nothing" I laughed and scruffed her hair up.

"Um. Dad" Kayla asked quietly "I'm hungry" I laughed

"Why are you telling him. Come on. Ill get you some food" I told her and led her to the kitchen.

"Do you want a drink too?" I asked her

"Yes please" she replied. Ah! he was polite too. I gave her a packet of chips and a juice box.

"So what's going on?" I asked dad as we walked back to the living room

"Well" dad started "I've missed you poppet. We are moving back down here" my mouth dropped open and tears pricked my eyes

"No" I laughed "oh my god! yes!" the. I realised. It was a two bedroom house. And Jason live here too.

"Um... living arrangements?" I asked and he smiled.

"We wanted to talk to you about that" Lindsay told me.
