--------next school year---------
It's Valentine's Day at school. Every year the school has this thing called "The Song-o-Gram" where basically you pay for the choir to sing to someone of your choice after they give the person a note written by you, the person who bought the thing. You can choose to have the note be anonymous and you can throw in a teddy bear holding a little heart for five extra bucks.
You decided to get one for Tino. You two've been hanging out a lot since he transferred to your school last year and you wanna tell him how you feel. You decided to get him the bear too because you think he'd like it.
The choir usually goes into small groups of about 5 or so people to cover more ground. Or, as Kage says, to divide and conquer and bring the romance to the everywhere in the school. Kage's in choir also, so she knows how this whole thing goes down. Most often the choir sings Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid.
It's the last class period of the school day and the choir groups should be going around now. They go around during last class period because none of the really important classes are then for everybody in sports, so they won't be too terribly disruptive. You share your last hour with Tino, so you can see how he'll react to your romantic gesture.
A group of choir kids enter your class room.
"Song-O-Gram!" Says one of the senior boys, Nick. The choir group goes to the front of the room. You see Kage in the group. She looks at you with a knowing look in her eyes. She has four notes in one hand and two bears in her other hand, her holding onto the bears by one of their arms.
She goes around handing out the letters, first the two without bears to two other kids in your class, then she goes over to Tino and hands him his note and bear you got him. Next she stops at your desk and hands you a note and bear before rejoining the choir. You blush. You've never gotten the Song-O-Gram before, and whoever got it for you even got you the bear.
Randall, another senior, starts doing the bass part of the song since they do an accapella version of the song. He and Nick do the instrumental while Kage and two others in the group do harmonies of the lyrics. Yup, they're doing Kiss the Girl again.
You open the letter.
(Name),
I really like you a lot. I saw a flier for this and thought you might like it. I don't know if you like me like that or anything, but I wanted to tell you that I've liked you for awhile. Please give me a chance?
TinoYour face must be red by now. You look over at Tino. He's blushing just as bad as you are and looking at your letter you wrote him. You can see what you wrote from the angle you're at relative to him.
Dear Tino,
I like you. I've liked you for a little while now and I was just really shy to tell you. I thought this would be a really good time to tell you about my feelings. If you don't like me, I understand. I just wanted to get my feelings out.
P.S. I didn't know if you'd like the bear or not, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
(Name)The choir group seems to be singing more towards Tino than to just the entire room. Like they're singing specifically at Tino. Like they're trying to tell him to kiss the girl, you goddamn idiot.
You flip over the note and write a big yes on the back. Then you crumple up the envelope the letter came in and throw it at Tino to get his attention. It hits him on the side of the head and he looks over at you. You hold up your response to him.
His eyes go wide. "Really?" He mouths at you. You nod. He smiles really big at you as his eyes light up.
The choir group finishes singing their song and the class applauds them. They practice quite a bit for Valentine's Day and they were really in sync.
As the choir group leaves, Kage does an eyebrows dance at you and Tino. There isn't a whole bunch of time left until the bell rings, so your teacher just lets you guys do whatever.
You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket. You check your phone to see you have a text from Tino.
meet me by the flag pole after school
Your respond.
Okay
After working on some homework you'd rather not take home and do, the bell rings. You pack up your stuff and put some of your book in your locker, then go out to the flagpole to meet Tino. He's already there, leaning on the flag pole, when you arrive.
He notices you approaching he smiles and pushes himself off the flag pole to stand, facing you.
"Hi," he says to you, a slight blush on his cheeks.
"Hi," you answer back, slightly smiling.
Awkward silence. You don't know what to say and neither does he.
SHA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA
MY OH MY, LOOKS LIKE THE BOY'S TOO SHY
AIN'T GONNA KISS THE GIRLYou two look over to the parking lot see one of Tino's guy friends blasting the Ashley Tisdale version of Kiss the Girl from his car. You can see Kage there with him. Both of them look really smug. Tino's friend was a tall man with blond hair that was styled in a way that defies gravity. You've seen him hanging out with Tino before, but never learned his name. He had the driver-side door, which was the closest to your location, wide open so you could hear it better along with see the whole thing better without the edges of the car door obstructing anything and Kage was leaning against the car.
SHA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA
AIN'T THAT SAD, IT'S SUCH A SHAME, TOO BAD
YOU'RE GONNA MISS THE GIRLYou blush even darker. Suddenly, you feel a hand on your cheek turn your face and the next thing you know, Tino's lips are on yours. Your eyes go wide as your heart starts pounding like it's gonna jump outta your chest.
You kiss him back and close your eyes. Tino kinda turns you as he puts his hands on your lower back. You open one eye to look at Kage and see her and the boy high-five, accomplished looks on their faces.
Kage and the boy both start cheering.
"NOW TELL HER YOU LOVE HER!!" Yells Kage.
Knowing Kage, this song's gonna plague your relationship with Tino, playing it anytime possible that you two are within five feet of each other. And it's probably gonna be the specific Ashley Tisdale version to follow you around too. She'll probably declare this to be "your song." Not that this is really a bad thing.
Tino seemed to pay her no mind, too entrenched in what was happening right then and there. You close your eye again and wrap your arms around his neck, focusing on him and him alone for the time being.
Best Valentine's Day ever.

I know it's not Valentine's Day when I'm posting this but I really wanted to write this. We actually did this at my school. I never really found out why we stopped.
