It's the evening of the charity gala. Beef is downstairs with Jonny, whilst the girls and I are getting ready together; making each other laugh with our over exaggerated and very silly, Teapots and Power Stances.
"Please don't ever do that one, Mum. You look like you need a poo." Lottie collapses onto the bed in a hysterical heap at my less than impressive attempt at the Dainty Foot Lift.
"What about this one then?" I ask, trying to look demure with the Backward Glance.
"Now you just look like you're constipated." Lissy bends over with tears of laughter streaming down her screwed up face.
Inwardly I retreat, overwhelmed with trying to be someone I'm obviously not, a celeb. I clutch my arms, with dropped shoulders. "I'm going to look stupid, aren't I?" I ask with a frown and a rapid blink.
"Just relax, Mum. Don't overdo it." Lissy is still smiling, but her voice carries a sympathetic, more serious tone.
I shake my head repeatedly. "I can't believe I'm actually taking advice from my fourteen-year-old daughter." A small, nervous smile reaches the corners of my mouth.
Lissy sits straight, with a wide grin. "Actually, I'm nearly fifteen," she corrects me.
My eyebrows rise, exchanging a knowing look with my darling daughter. "In that case. I can't believe I'm actually taking advice from my nearly fifteen-year-old daughter," I repeat with a playful laugh.
Lissy laughs with me before her expression gradually becomes more serious, lifting herself from the bed. "Just be yourself, Mum. I'm sure they will love you. Besides, I'm feeling nervous, too. We can be scared together." She returns my anxious smile, standing close beside me.
I stroke her delicate cheek, thinking just how grown up my beautiful daughter now is. "I know you are, darling. We will all be fine, I'm sure. Thank you for trying to calm my nerves. You really are a sweetheart," I tell her with a quivering chin.
Lissy coyly smiles. "Mum! You're not going to cry, are you?" she asks, looking embarrassed.
I give her a reassuring hug. "I'm just so proud of you, Lissy." I hold her at arms length, with an affectionate smile on my face. "Look at you, all grown up! Helping me when it should be the other way around."
"Well, I am nearly fifteen now, Mum." She sweetly rolls her eyes, reminding me again of her age.
Kissing the top of her head, I pull my darling girl to my chest. "You are a beautiful, young lady," I tell her, holding her tight.
Lissy holds me for a short while before pulling back from our embrace. "How should I wear my hair, Mum?"
I laugh, knowing our sentimental moment has indeed passed. "Put your dress on, we'll see what looks best," I tell her, before moving towards Lottie.
"I think I'm going to wear mine down," Lottie says, who's already dressed in a gorgeous and very girly, sleeveless knee-length dress in cream with black polka dots. To complete its adorable look, there's a cutesy lace underskirt just peeping out from underneath it.
With the palm of my hand smoothly caressing her sleek and golden hair, I compliment my youngest sweetheart. "You look beautiful, darling. You really do."
Her stunning long hair beautifully rests down the length of her small back, while her bright blue eyes widen with youthful exhilaration. "Do you think my hair looks okay down, Mum?" she asks, blinking with anticipation.
I affectionately kiss her forehead. "Lottie, you look perfect."
"Thanks, I think I'll go and wait downstairs . . . before you cry." She cheekily grins.
