Sitting in the back of the limo, the girls are chatting away, ecstatically so to an amused Beef. They are loving the whole experience, nervous but excited. Seeing their excitement, when the limousine pulled up outside to collect us, was absolutely priceless.
The journey seems to take forever as we snake our way through the Saturday night city traffic. It feels so surreal to be sat here in my designer dress, driving through the buzz of London in a stretch limo with my insanely gorgeous celebrity boyfriend. It's moments like this that I feel the need to pinch myself. PINCH! PINCH AND ANOTHER BIG BLOODY PINCH!
Just how the hell did my life get to be where it is now? I silently wonder.
As we approach the venue, the limo slows down to join the very long queue of luxurious vehicles. A motorcade of the ridiculously rich and famous, all waiting their turn to grace the red carpet. The nerves come on like a terrifying tsunami. Any confidence and strength is literally washed away in one cruel and engulfing wave. Shit!
Jonny takes hold of my hand, moving around in his seat to look at me. "You're shaking?" he asks, concern etched all over his gorgeous face.
"Am I?" I quietly reply, knowing full well that I am. Such is my shivering; it's all I can do to stop my teeth from chattering. I'm that damn terrified. Double shit!
Jonny tries to comfort me by stroking my hand. "Are you going to be okay?" he asks.
I nervously peep out of the dark tinted window. The convoy of limos just go on and on, with a large gathering of people waiting around the entrance of the flashy venue. I slowly turn to face Jonny. "There are so many people here. Not just the famous . . . but the fans, too," I meekly answer, looking across at Beef for some moral support.
Jonny looks worried. "It's a high profile charity event," he says, almost apologetic.
I swallow, grimacing. "I feel sick."
"Are you okay, Mum?" Lottie chirpily asks from the other side of the limo.
I wrap my hand around Jonny's. "Not really, no," I mumble.
"This is so exciting! Look at how many people are out there." Wide-eyed she eagerly gawks at the hundreds of people who have gathered outside to catch a glimpse of their fave celebrities.
"Don't you feel nervous?" I ask, rather envious of my daughter's unfazed reaction.
She grins at me. "Nah . . . it's going to be great."
I look across at Lissy, who remains quiet with a nervy smile on her sweet face. "How about you, Lissy?" I ask, curious as to whether she feels the same as me. I tap the seat beside me, wanting her to sit there.
She doesn't hesitate. She's soon sat beside me, looking a little wary. "I feel scared too, Mum," she confesses, looking at me with worried eyes.
Jonny leans forward, squeezing my hand tighter and taking Lissy's into his warm and reassuring other one, a sweetly sentimental gesture on his part. "I know it's a bit overwhelming, but try to relax and enjoy the experience. Walking in is always the hardest part but after that, you'll both enjoy yourselves . . . I promise." He looks at us, doing his best to calm us both with his comforting words.
"It's okay for you to say that, you're used to all of this!" I abruptly reply, not meaning for it to come out as snippy as it actually does.
Jonny doesn't waver with his assuring hold on my hand. "Maybe I am, but I do remember feeling the way that you and Lissy are right now."
I roll my anxious eyes. "I expect you do, but the fact still remains, I am only doing this for you . . . and it still scares the crap out of me," I tell him with an animated free hand, moving it around in my lap.
