The weekend in Devon was just the tonic that we both needed. We return to Chelsea on a deliriously happy high. It just feels like all of our stresses have simply melted away. We are refreshed and content. Not even Jay calling us on our way back, gently reminding me that the magazine interview that I had been quietly dreading, is scheduled for the very next day, can pop my blissful bubble of happiness. I mean, seriously. What woman alive wouldn't feel ten foot tall because of a wedding proposal from a man like Jonny?
So I find myself on this fine Monday morning, ready, and dare I say it, a tad excited about my first ever glossy mag interview.
The interview is being held at Cherington Court; a smaller but very well known hotel in central London. It's luxuriously old fashioned. Decorated in rich and earthy tones. Furnished with sumptuous fabrics of thick felt and supple leather, giving it a very manor-like feel.
"Now remember, Jessica, any questions that you're not comfortable answering, just say so. Here at Celeb Chatz, we feel that we get more from our celebs if they're relaxed and happy during our interviews." The young assistant to the slightly late interviewer tells me, holding an official looking folder in her arms. She broadly grins at me first, then at Jonny. Her long blonde hair is sleekly tied back in a Croydon ponytail, and the dark brown shift dress that she's wearing, really suits her slim body. She looks back at me, wearing her most serious and professional expression as she waits for my response.
I politely smile at the young lady who is trying her hardest to alleviate any nerves that I may have. "I'm sure it's going to be fine. Jay forwarded the questions that are off bounds, didn't he?"
She nods, tapping the back of the folder in her hands. "That's right, it's all in here." She gently laughs. "Did you manage to take a look at Alexa's questions?" she asks.
I warily nod. "I did, but I'm not very good at remembering them." I nervously shrug, still unable to bloody remember one damn question.
Jonny puts his arm around me, giving my waist a reassuring squeeze. "I know Alexa Delacruz, who's interviewing you, she's pretty straight down the line . . . but I'm here, should she try to push too much." He looks up at the young assistant with a charming smile, yet his interruption is laced with a subtle warning.
Slightly embarrassed by Jonny's protective words, I try to put us all at ease. "I'm sure she won't, Jonny. In fact, as nervous as I am, I'm kind of looking forward to this interview."
"That's good to hear, Jessica." The relieved looking assistant quickly replies. "Um . . . can I get you both something to drink?" she asks with a keen but nervous smile.
"A bottled water for me, please," I promptly answer, glancing around the pleasant looking room.
Jonny smiles, looking from me to the eager assistant. "Two bottled waters would be great," he tells her, his reply much more friendlier this time.
"I'll be back with those in a jiffy." She swiftly leaves the room with a relieved spring to her heels.
Jonny stands in front of me, his voice gentle. "You okay?"
Interlocking my hands with his, I softly nod. "I'm good," I tell him, with a confident grin.
His concerned brows pull inwards as his hazel eyes penetrate mine. "If Alexa should throw in something that you really don't like, just smile sweetly and say no comment . . . okay?"
I lightly shrug, laughing a little. "I'm hoping she'll go easy on me, being as it's my first time?"
Jonny looks down, stroking both of my arms. "Well, she has the interview that everyone has been after. I don't think she's going to want to mess it up. So let's just try and enjoy it."
