Tamara's POV
Eight Years Later
It was a beautiful day out with several clouds spread out across the sky which made the spring air warm instead of scorching hot. This was the perfect weather to read a book and enjoy the afternoon air.
I closed the book looking at our two little girls running across the lawn. Tiffany was now eight years old. Tyreonna just turned four. They were so innocent running around squealing and giggling.
God has blessed me with the most beautiful girls on the face of the earth. Tiffany had my long red hair and green eyes, but all the rest of her features were of Tanner. The way she ran. The athletic ability. It was strange. I called it a God thing, because Tanner wasn't her biological father, but the way she did everything reminded me so much of him.
Tyreonna on the other hand had Tanner's curly, dark hair and blue eyes. She was so precious.
Just to think we had another one on the way. A boy.
"Here." Tanner snuck up and handed me a glass of lemonade before taking a seat on the bench next to me.
"Thank you." I smiled at him before taking the cold glass into my hands and taking a drink.
You wouldn't believe it. On the day of graduation he decided to pop the question infront of the whole entire student body, teachers, parents, and all. I didn't see it coming. I just knew it was Tanner's turn to get his diploma. After he got his diploma, shook hands with the principal, and walked across the stage, he went straight to where I was sitting and bent down on one knee. It was a day I would never forget.
Tanner put his arm around me and kissed the top of my head. "I see you're reading our story again."
I smiled.
"Who would have ever thought you would be writing our story."
I smiled thinking back to the day I told him I liked writing, but doubted anything I wrote would have gotten published. Who would have known it would be at the top of the best sellers list. It had to be a God thing. A Phillipians 4:13 'For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.'
"You still never told me what inspired you to write our story."
Most of my writing I kept to myself. I trusted Tanner with my life, but I wasn't sure until now that I needed to tell him. I needed him to understand the meaning of me writing this first story. Our story. "I'll tell you why." I started to set the glass on the ground, but Tanner took the cup from me and set the cup on the ground. Then took my hands in his.
"I began to read stories because I longed to be the character in the book. I didn't care what that person did or what happened to them, I always thought their life was better or more perfect than mine. I guess you would say I didn't want to live my life. I wanted to live somebody elses life. I didn't like living with my dad, because of the abuse and love I didn't feel there. Anyways the reason why I wrote our story was to inspire teenagers to find the love of christ and wait for that special one. I want them to learn that they have a plan in life even when it is too hard to see at the time. I want to give them hope."
"Is that how you felt?"
"Yes."
Tanner moved my hair out of my face and smiled my favorite smile at me. "You are a beautiful person, inside and out." He put his arm around me drawing me close. "I am so happy I met you."
Leaning my head against his shoulder I replied, "Me too."
To be honest with you, I didn't think a lot of people were going to read this story!!! Thank you so much for all of the reads!!! Please comment so I know your thoughts on how I did!!!
