Numb: The Absence Of Feeling

Never forget

Roy's eyes softly fluttered open, his eyes readjusting to the light. His mouth was dry and he felt dizzy, his cheek ached as well as his chest. He winced in pain as he slowly rose up from the table scanning the Wayne manor. "What happened?"

Jason smirked at him handing him a water bottle and helping him off the table, "good you're awake. Can you walk?"

"Uh yeah I'm pretty sure. What's going on?"

"I'll explain later but for right now we need to get moving okay?" His partner nodded taking the bag Jason handed him and without question he moved with the group from rooftop to rooftop. Stars painted the night sky of Gotham with the streets just as lively as before. Jason was putting everything at risk in this one moment not only were the mob boss's after him but so were the cops and Justice League. Jason kept his head down and followed closely behind Batman. He thought back to earlier that day when he met the man named Shadow. He remembers striking a deal with him in order to get the information on the Joker. He remembers feeling little relief for the small lead they were given and ultimately what that meant. Though no matter how much he hated working together with Batman this wasn't about Jason anymore. With the information they raced back to Gotham unaware of what hell awaited them.  One thing quickly led to another and the duo quickly became over powered as enemies from both sides raged war against them, and with Roy losing blood quickly Jason struggled to fight them all off. Luckily Starfire was their saving grace and manged to buy them enough time to get Roy out of there and not long after Jason.

Moments from earlier that day flashed in his head like a silent movie. Roy's blood on his hands and boots as he struggled to keep the blood thirsty crowd back. Every muscle of his body ached but he manged to get away from the crowd by the skin of his teeth as he ran from the crowd there was a loud bang while as Jason's hip erupted in pain sending a shock wave through his entire body and almost knocking him off his feet, but he kept running.

Jason stopped for a second noticing that Roy struggled to keep up with the group. He stopped Starfire calling her to him. "Stay with him." She nodded flying towards the injured man but before she could take off he grabbed her arm, "thanks for saving our ass's back there. We owe you one."

She smiled gratefully waving her hand away at the compliment, "No need to thank me. I'm just doing what any super hero would do," and with that she made her way to Ray. The pair sat on the rooftop with Roy placing his hands on top of his head to catch his breath. "The one named Tim put me in charge of you, he said you lost of lot of blood and you shouldn't be moving so much." 

"I don't....need a....baby sitter." She smirked before handing him his water bottle. "Who are you anyway?"

"My name is Starfire...I work with your mentor on the Justice League."

He huffs taking another sip from his water. "Figures they would be involved. How did you find us anyway?"

She shrugs. "I guess I was at the right place at the right moment."

"You could say that again."

"O-Oh..I guess I was-"

"No no it's a figure of speech. I'm assuming you're not from here." The alien shook her head. Roy smiled weakly spreading his arms wide open before quickly wincing and closing them again. "Welcome to Earth." 

She smiles once again giggling softly, "so question...I overheard Batman and the one named Jason talking about a girl, the Joker and death? What's all of that about and where do you fit in?"

Roy shifted uncomfortably on the rooftop looking over his shoulder making sure no one was near them. "Listen Starfire what I'm about to tell you you can't tell anyone okay?" he whispered summoning her with his finger making her move closer to him with curiosity. With one more scoop of there surroundings he started to tell her the story. "I know this may be hard to believe but Jason was....previously killed by the Joker a few decades. I'm not sure how he came back to life but I'm speculating from this pit called the Lazuras pit. He's trained with some super hardcore people before returning to Gotham to get his revenge but not long after he returns the Joker kidnaps his girlfriend (Y/n) and starts torturing her like him. I'm just here helping a friend out."
