What the hell?I let my eyes drift open slowly, listening to the pounding beats of my heart.
No.
Wait.
That was actually someone at my door.
I sighed, letting my eyes rove to the alarm clock, the red numbers burning my eyes.
It was three in the morning.
What the hell could someone want from me?
This had better be important.
I groaned as I forced myself to sit up, throwing the covers off my bare legs huffily.
I wasn't a morning person.
And I had to be up in three hours to run the initiates until they were exhausted.
Huh.
Maybe if they gave me the later shift I wouldn't be so horrid.
Nah, probably not.
It wouldn't make a difference.
"I'm coming!" I practically bellowed, wishing to hell they'd stop beating on my door.
Or it would be their face in the next five seconds.
I wrenched open my door, glowering blearily at whoever the hell it was standing in front of me.
"What do you want?" I snapped, rubbing the grit from my eyes. "Do you know what time it is?"
"Yup. And we have a meeting."
?
Of course.
Who else would have the balls but Eric to be here?
I sighed as I lowered my hands, looking up at Eric as he lounged in my doorway, looking like he owned the world and all its treasures with that trademark smirk on his face.
"Why do we have a meeting at this time in the morning?" I grumbled, crossing my arms. "I have to run the initiates in a couple hours. And you know I need my beauty sleep."
"You'll be fine." His eyes flicked me over. "Now get ready."
"Why are you the only one who ever tells me about these meetings, anyway?" I wasn't budging just yet.
"Because I vouched that you could be trusted, so now I have to drag your ass with me. Now get dressed - or come in that, I don't mind."
Of course he didn't.
I rolled my eyes, my hand still curled around the edge of the door. I'd only opened it enough where I could be seen, but nothing else in my dark apartment could. So he could only see me taking up the doorway and not the horrendous mess behind me.
I wasn't much of a housekeeper.
My eyes went to the bed longingly; oh those few more hours of sleep...
"What? Did I interrupt something?" Eric suddenly asked, quirking a brow. "You hiding an initiate in there?"
Please.
"What? Wish it was you?" I chuckled, gazing up at him; I never let him think he got the best of me, that wouldn't be any fun.
I liked keeping him on his toes.
So Before he could respond, I stepped forward, my hand suddenly pressing against his chest as my lips drew near his, and I could feel him stiffen beneath my hand. I let my lips hover inches away from his, so close I could feel his breath against my skin.
