Mal took a deep breath. That was it. The last time she'd see her country's sky before going home in two months. She looked at the bright lights coming from the sun, before putting her feet on that plane. Lindsey was by her side, holding her luggage close to her. It was very stressful and scary, but this new adventure was going to be fenomenal.
They sat down, as Lindsey was throwing scared looks at Moe and Sam, who were sitting next to them. Neither of them had to talk, because they all knew what they had in mind.
Mal just looked at her, smiling.
- That's it.

Time jump
One week after the loss against Sweden
Julie decided to take Christen on a vacation. As the perfect girlfriend she was, she just wanted to make her feel better. Missing that PK was her fault, it was true. But losing the whole thing because of her wasn't. So Julie booked two tickets to fly in Italy, where the pair was enjoying a two-weeks holiday in Sicily.
Whereas lots of the girls immediately flew home, some people like Allie, Kelley, Alex, Pinoe and Crystal decided to stay in Rio two more weeks, in order to support the American athletes that were crushing it everywhere, bringing home tons of gold medals. Of course it was hard for them to think they lost their chance to have a medal, but the girls tried to forget this horrible moment by enjoying the time they had. Pinoe spent her free time trying to find stupid nicknames to the girls, which she totally succeeded in.
Hope, on the other hand, had the worst weeks of her life. Carli had simply disappeared. She wasn't returning her calls, and the goalkeeper didn't know where the captain. She knew she probably was practicing already, but all she had left of her was a little note : 'I'll come back'.
The other girls went to their home states, spending time with their families. Nothing happened between Lindsey and Emily, who decided to not be awkward after their kiss, and only be friends. But Emily was feeling some conflicting feelings toward the middy, and that was scaring her to death.
Sam spent her holidays with her sister and Stephanie, who just came back from a trip in Europe. The pair seemed pretty much in love.
The team wasn't over. It wasn't the end of the road. With the friendlies against Thailand and Netherlands that will take place in September, the girls would be called back into action soon enough.
________________________________So that was lame, I know.
I believe in this team no matter what. I love them no matter how many games they lose or play bad. I can't wait to see them play in France in 2019 (like, I'll be on the stadium for sure this time) and hope they recover soon enough.
