The Capitol Anthem sounded like nails scratching across a chalkboard. At least, to my ears. I kept my eyes focused on the pictures in the sky no matter how badly I wanted to erase everything that happened in the past few days.

"Whaddaya know? Pretty boy dies on Day Three," Karina smirked.

"But the Career alliance is still larger then ours," Raina reminded her.

"I think all that matters is that another Career is down,"Queenie cut in, in her soft light voice. "That gives the rest of us a larger chance. Along with that, another big threat, Mica, is dead now. Less threats, bigger chance of winning."

"Yeah, yeah, we get the science of it Queens," Karina snapped.

I rolled my eyes at the three of them, but loosely wrapped my arms around Queenie and placed my head on hers. I had my peace now, Queenie was here with me, and I would be fine. Now that I had her, I never wanted to think about loosing her, because it's a possibility.

She slumped agaisnt me, her eyes lidded. "Hey, don't sleep your highness," I whispered. A small smile lit up her face, but she kept her eyes closed.

"We should call it a night," Jack coughed, interrupting my sweet little moment with Queenie. I refrained from glaring at him, but I did frown. "I'll take first watch."

There was no way I was complaining with that, so I laid Queenie down on her sleeping bag and zipped it open before laying her inside. I zipped It closed again and got into my sleeping bag right next to her. Karina did the same on the other side of Queenie, and so did Raina on the other side of me. The only empty bag was Jack's, and he held a torch and his sword.

I watched him curiously, and then surprised myself when I spoke. "You want time to think, so you took first watch."

He didn't turn around, he didn't show any sign that he heard me actually, yet he replied. "No, I'm just expecting someone."

"Someone like who?" I questioned.

"Someone like Larise," He stated bluntly, hinting for me to drop it. Unfortunately for him, I was a stubborn curious person, and I don't settle for foreshadowing.

"Why are you waiting for Larise?"

"Draco is dead. Larise most likely left the Careers, so she'll be looking for me."

"And you're just going to wait all night for her?"

"Yes."

"You're going to tire yourself out Jack."

"I've stayed awake for four days straight with no signs of sleep loss. I can stay awake for a night."

"Jack."

"MacKenzie, go to sleep."

"Y'know, I may not show it, but I do care for your wellbeing."

"I know. But for your own safety, don't. I'm not something to worry about in a humane way, I'm something to worry about in a military sense."
