"How about this?" I held up a navy dress. It's sleeves were long and it fell to my knees.
Cassie shook her head.
"No" she said firmly. "Dark colours does not match you"
She pulled out a shimmering, lemon yellow dress. It was sleeveless with a heart shaped curve. It fell a little above mid thigh. It was simple but something about it made it so glamorous.
"Try it on" Cassie gestured at the dress.
I nodded and made my way to the dressing room.
Cassie clapped her hands like a little child when she saw me in the dress.
"I have a blue sash that you can wear around your waist. And you should get a pair of blue pumps to go with it" Cassie suggested.
"Wow, Cass, what would I ever do without you" I smiled at my best friend.
She could wear a plain white tee and make it look fabulous with her awesome sense of fashion and style.
"Now let's go find you a dress" I said.
I twirled one last time in front of the full-length mirror. I wore a pearl necklace with dangling pearl earrings. My not-so-straight long caramel hair was left loose.
Luke's present was wrapped up and I had made the card handmade. I had to admit, the card was actually cool.
There was a knock on the door. I was sure it was Cassie.
I grabbed my blue and yellow envelope clutch along with Luke's present and card and went downstairs.
I opened the door and Cassie was standing there, as beautiful as always. She was wearing a sleeveless dress. Her blond locks are tied up in a high ponytail.
"So tell me again...Why must we be late for the party?" I asked.
"So that we would be fashionably late of course" Cassie said like it was the most obvious thing on earth.
I knocked on Luke's door. He opened the door wearing a blue button down shirt and jeans. His dirty blonde hair was messy as usual. He looked handsome.
Luke was eying my outfit carefully.
"Nice outfit Mallie " he said.
Luke was the only person who called me Mallie. I smiled And handed him the present and card.
"Thanks" he said, smiling.
Luke's P.O.V.
She looked....breathtaking. She was so gorgeous. Her outfit was made for her in heaven. It was perfect on her.
"Nice outfit Mallie " I said.
She thanked me and handed me her present and card. I could tell that her card was handmade. I couldn't wait to see what she has gotten me.
I invited them inside and offered them drinks. Cassie went ahead to dance with Jake, one of her classmate.
So it was just me and Mallory. Wow.
"Erm... so...I really like this song. Wanna dance? " I asked her.
My favourite song, Good Life by One Republic was playing.
She nodded shyly. I took her hand and let her to the dance floor (which is actually in the middle of the living room). I placed my hands on her hips and she nervously wrapped her hands around my neck.
"Is this your first time dancing? " I asked.
I thought it couldn't be true because she was invited to a lot of parties.
"Umm.. actually.. yeah. I did get a lot of invitations, but I stayed at home to study instead"
That explains why I never saw her at a party before. Until now. I felt kind of honoured as she sacrificed her studies to come to my party. How sweet.
"For your information, I only came because this is the biggest bash of the year, plus, Cassie literally dragged me here" she said, interrupting my thoughts.
My heart started to feel heavy. So. She only came because Cassie forced her. Sigh. I wanted to escape. I've never felt so silly in my life.
"Sorry, Mallory, I gotta make sure of....some stuff."
I hurried off, leaving her dumbfounded.
