Summer flew by. It was normal as far as summers go. Birds flew, swimming happened a lot, relaxing, and magic football. But now Laszlo and Ally were with us. We were almost running out of room in the house. Between me and Aurora in one room and Kelsey and Lauren in another, it's a good thing Aurora is an only child. G.L Aurora's dog slept in her dog bed in the living room, and Laszlo slept in the old guest bedroom which was now his and Ally's bedroom. They were fine sleeping in the same room, I would NOT be able to handle that.
June went by and we didn't go on any summer vacations. I'm fine with that, I've had enough for one Summer. Besides, I did see part of California, Russia, Puerto Rico, and Paris! And now Aurora's parents have two new kids to handle. They have 6 kids sleeping in their house! I wonder if they miss having one. Also if this June was more action packed than last Fall. It's hard to tell when you're life is this crazy.
It was July first, three more days until the 4th of July. To me, July is the beginning of the end. The beginning of the end of Summer. July is also when stores start doing back to school stuff. Laszlo was excited and nervous. Excited for a new school, and nervous that he has to start over.
"Happy first day of July!" That's what I said to Laszlo this morning. He was watching TV. A back to school commercial came on.
"It's too early for this!"
"What, haven't you ever seen commercials. Stores can start selling Christmas stuff in August, this is nothing."
"Well, I know it's just that school, it's all new and..... IT'S ALL NEW!"
"If you need someone to sit with at lunch, you can sit with us, besides aren't you supposed to be around me all the time?" He looked at me with a 'really' face. "I'm gonna go get cereal now." He nodded and I left the room. He's gonna love school.
The 4th of July came. There was a parade. Girl scouts, boy scouts, bands, veterans, and all this organizations marched or walked down. Candy flew at us and we attempted to catch it. People we knew threw a little extra candy at us. It's one of our advantages for being known, very known.
Later after the parade we thought of going to the beach, but we knew it was going to be too crowded. So we stayed home and baked red, white, and blue cupcakes. they were chocolate with vanilla icing dyed the different colors. At least we did something inspired by the holidays. I hoped we could do this more often rather than go to sky court or magical forests to fight someone.
At 8:00 we felt it was dark enough for fireworks. Outside you could hear the bangs coming from other places somewhere. Each of us had our own glow necklace or bracelet. Aurora's mom, or step-mom... type person got out the sparklers. I made shapes out of the sparks and watched the smoke lift into the air. I went through at least five of them and it was amazing watching the sparks go off.
"Elizabeth, mine went out! Can I put mine of yours to keep it going?"
"Well, Aurora's mom is to light them first time, second time you go to Aurora." Ally did and Aurora made a flame that started sparks again.
The night flew by and sparks went out. The water bucket to put the old sparklers in filled up. As we were twirling the sparklers Aurora's dad was setting up the firework show. He finally finished, but we couldn't see them yet because first was marshmallows.
I burnt mine just enough. It was burnt on top, and a little hard outside. And when you bit into it, it just melted. It was the slightly burnt kind I love. But the fire started going out and Aurora's dad thought it was a good idea to start fireworks. I went on a blanket with my dad and watched the sky waiting for the show to start.
Laszlo and Ally were their own separate blanket. They were like brother and sister now. It was funny. Kelsey, her mom, her dad, and her sister were on another blanket. And Aurora was with G.L, Lauren, and her mom. Her dad was standing closer to the fireworks to start it. Five minutes later the show began.
Colors exploded into the sky. One that caught my eye was a star. It was was a red is side layer with a white middle layer, and a blue outside layer. It exploded in the sky and the ashes fell back to the ground. Purple, blue, red, green, orange, yellow, and pinks danced through the sky showing off a little. Laszlo was smiling and so was everyone else. They were awesome fireworks. And you could definitely hear it. G.L had little ear-muffs on. It was so cute
Halfway into the display Laszlo crawled over to my blanket. Dad had gone to talk with Kelsey's parents so it was just us.
"So you enjoying the show?"
"Yeah, the fireworks are awesome!"
"Well, they remind me of you a little."
"Are you trying to flirt with me?" Laszlo blushed and the reply was him stuttering. It was cute. My angel/guardian loves me. OH MY GOSH, HE LOVES ME!!!!!!! Best 4th of July, EVER!
Laszlo finally found words in his head. "Maybe I am, why is there a problem with me doing this?"
I smiled and tilted my head. "Not a problem." We sat in silence for a minute when I turned to him and he turned to me. The moment was perfect so I leaned in and.... you know what happened next. I kissed him and literally the fireworks went off. Really, the sky was filled with a purple, blue, and pink firework. And although I didn't see it exactly, it looked like a heart to me. You may be thinking we're crazy and too young to kiss, but we're 13..... yeah. And we've known each other for 3 years! Loopholes, what could we do without them?
The fireworks ended and it was 11:00. I went to bed, but I lied awake. Aurora fell asleep so I got up. I sat by the window and listened for the bang of fireworks. I also thought about Laszlo, what happened tonight. But I stopped for the moment and I just sat at the window and watched hoping for things to be normal tomorrow.
