Elizabeth: Guardian of Water

Chapter 4: The bottom of the Sea

I must have looked like a complete idiot. I was standing in the middle of a beach wearing a suit and tie. And I had a blank look on my face, I was a statue. I bet people were wondering how I just appeared out of nowhere too. If I saw me right now, I'd be so confused. I just smiled and waved, I'm somewhat used to people giving me weird looks by now. Since I fell out of the sky, have magic-like powers, and have been accused of freezing the world!

The water is the only safe zone for me right now. I run toward it. Avoiding people, sand-castles, burning hot pavement, shovels, more people, and sand-pits. There was one girl in the water that gripped onto me, tight. I would let her, but I was in a rush to get to the bottom to think. Half swimming and half shaking off a girl is harder than it seems. Eventually she falls off and I send waves to bring her to the sand.

The water is cool and a little dirty, but it always is. Fish are swimming through the waves in their little school of fish. So many different colors and types. There are also a few sea turtles down deeper. The whole word under the sea is magical in ways that people can't see, but I do. It's nice that I can breath underwater.

At the sea floor is a cave and it looks perfect. The inside is bright and colorful with rocks creating a floor. And near the end is a throne made of seaweed and pebbles. And sitting on top is Vari. Her smile is bright and she's in her mermaid form. Her hair is blue and sparkles underwater. And her tail is bright green and beautiful. Also she has the same exact 'top' as Ariel does in the little mermaid.

"I see you came, but aren't you not allowed outside. Won't people discover you? Do you want that to happen? Wait, why are you in California?"

"Vari, nice seeing you here. Um, in 3 years I get accused of something that I didn't do. So in anger I kinda go back in time to prove me innocent. I brought me here in 2010. Now thinking about I don't know how this will help me. Coming here 3 years before the crime actually happens..."

Vari looks at me with her head tilted again.Probably thinking of why she gave me the necklace if this will happen. Then she smiles her warm smile and swims closer.

"Oh, I remember this necklace! I gave it to you when you first started being princess in case you messed up. I never thought you would, I mean... moving on. this necklace is beautiful isn't it?"

"Yes, but Vari. Do you think I should go back to 2013 and do all of this there. And by 2013 I mean when the world is normal and everyone doesn't hate me."

"No Elizabeth, if you meet yourself. Then who knows what will happen! Time could completely change and um, um. Have you seen movies where when they meet each other, they both go away! If you haven't they're really good, anyway. Just stay here and wait until the time is right, then you may go as you plea."

Vari is a smart woman- smarter than we know, but this isn't right. Her smile has turned into a nervous smile. And her eyes aren't blinking. She's scared of something happening, maybe afraid of me. I just swam into her cave and told her that in 3 years the world will freeze. She must think I've gone crazy. That or it's not her, which might be more likely.

"Here, let me see that necklace. I want to make sure that this is the right thing to do."

I don't fully trust her, but I can't prove it's not her. So I grip the necklace, but slowly give it to her.

"Wow, this thing really shines. Beautiful. I can't believe I gave this to you, I kinda of want it back now. But it's yours to keep. I'm just going to get a better view of it in the light."

 Then I can't believe what she does next. Vari pretends to trip and throws the necklace making it hit the rock floor. The necklace shatters into thousands of pieces. This doesn't seem like Vari. Not at all.

"Oh my goddess. Elizabeth I'm so sorry. I'll fix this one day, trusty me."

I can't trust her much, she just broke my only way home. I didn't even seem like an accident! Vari just looks at the ground where it broke and looks up. It's another nervous smile, but it has something behind it. I can't tell but it's definitely something.

I couldn't even be in that cave anymore with Vari. Vari was dead to me, I couldn't even look at her. So why should I trust her!? I swam back up to the surface where the girl was staring at me again. Her eyes were wide while mine were watery with tears. I couldn't show it though. I ran past all the obstacles again. I ran into the bathroom and started slightly crying.

After I got a grip, I went to the salon. I got my hair dyed blue, because I always wanted to. I walked around town noting where everything was. I planned to live at the beach I first arrived to. With my blue hair and new life I stood confidently and proudly. The reason why I did all of this is because I couldn't control it. I was now my own person in my own time and place. My life started over and it started in California. And now I needed to get ready because now I lived in 2010. It was now my life, but that's just my little secret.
