"Hey Gerard," I looked up at his worried expression from my spot on the couch. It had been a lazy day for me, but the guys had been preparing for tonight's show. "You okay?"

"No, I'm not okay," He sat down next to me, biting at his lip nervously. "Mikey's sick."

"What?!"

He nodded to confirm his words. "We think it was the sushi he ate yesterday."

"Shit," I said under my breath remembering the odd fish he had decided to eat. "What about the show tonight?"

"We're probably going to have to cancel because there is no way we could find a replacement by then," He looked angry as he thought over their choices. But I could see it in his eyes how much he didn't want to letdown the fans.

I opened and closed my mouth a few times, the lump in my throat stopping me from saying anything.

"We should go see him," I finally choked out.

Gerard nodded and stood from his spot next to me. I rose with him and soon we were walking toward the infirmary inside the venue. As I walked with Gerard I could feel my heart beat quicken the closer we got to the small room. I knew what Mikey was going to say, and I knew I was going to have to step up. But I was scared.

"Lennox can do it," Mikey chocked out from his spot on the bathroom floor next to the toilet as Gerard and I stood in the doorway. I grimaced as I turned away from his greenish colored face, my assumptions on the walk over right.

"What?" Gerard turned and looked at me as I tried to avoid his gaze.

I had been starring at the ground since we got there, hoping I could just fade into the titles that lined the walls. I glanced at Gerard and then looked down at Mikey with pleading eyes.

"Lennox, you know you can do this," Mikey said with much confidence though it looked like he was about to faint.

"But..."

"What are you two talking about?" Gerard looked between us very confused.

Gerard turned back to me and waited for me to say something, his eyebrows raised with curiosity and wonder.

"I know about five songs of ours... but that's it."

A smile crept onto Gerard's face as the words left my mouth. "You sly son of a bitch," He turned back to look at Mikey. "This is just too perfect!!"

"Gerard," He looked back at me as I spoke. I was going to tell him I couldn't do it, but the excitement on his face wasn't helping in the slightest. "I guess I don't really have a choice, huh?"

Gerard shook his head and sighed dramatically. "I guess we should tell the guys then."

"Are you serious?" Bob asked again for what felt like the hundredth time in the last minute. Why was he so surprised I knew how to play an instrument?

"I'm totally serious," Gerard looked over at me with a grin. "Mikey's been teaching her since we went on break and he says she's a natural."

"I can't believe this," Frank spoke up. His eyes had been on me the entire time. "Lenny, why didn't you say anything about it?"

I shrugged and turned my eyes to the ground. "I didn't think I was actually going to have to use it for something. It was just something I started to pass time while you guys were busy."

It was quiet for a moment before Frank spoke again. "This is going to be... awesome!"

I looked over at him surprised to see a grin on his face and also on everyone else's faces in the room. I shrugged with a little smile on my face, their confidence in me starting to rub off.

"Okay then," Gerard clapped his hand together. "That means we need to start getting ready!"

For the rest of the time before the show, we practice the few songs I knew. My nerves got the best of me a few times, messing up a few note changes, but eventually I got the hang of it. I had never thought it would be so fun to play in a band; the feeling was indescribable.

I stood at the side of the stage with Ray on my left and Frank on my right. I could hear the crowd as people of all ages screamed with excitement. Adrenaline started to pump through my veins the closer we got to show time.

"Don't worry Lennox, you're going be great," Frank whispered in my ear. It was obvious that he could tell how nervous I was.

I gulped and shut my eyes tightly. "Lets do this," My voice was shaky.

Bob went out first, followed by Frank and then Ray. The crowd's screams got louder, to almost a deafening volume. Gerard came up next to me and gave me a quick side hug.

"This is your debut Lenny." He smiled down at me. "You're going to do great!"

I nodded, taking a few deep breaths before I took the few steps up that led out to the stage. My hands gripped onto Mikey's bass tightly as flashing lights blinded me and I stepped out onto the stage. This was it.
