"I am here to congratulate Charlotte on winning her games so far. I mean, did you see her play with the rival? She sucked. It was pretty obvious her teammates are doing all the work. Not to mention, sources say she only got on the team because you know.." The Captain on the Cheer squad said, pushing her tongue on the side of her cheek.

"Charlotte Evans, not a very good daughter. What I heard was her father won't even look at her! She is so disgusting. Charlotte Evans father is Marco Evans. If you cannot tell. She tried to keep this a secret. But personally, I only think it was because she knows her father wouldn't confirm she was her daughter." The Captain continued.

Now, that was not how the day was suppose to go.

Earlier that day...

Today was the assembly! The school was finally getting off the couch and doing something for once! Soccer is the 'star' sport for this school. Since the school wants to encourage the freshmen to try out for soccer next season. The principle took some of the funds and got three players from the USA soccer team to come to our school!

I am so happy for this! Not. Who was on the USA soccer team? My father. Marco Evans. The man that I haven't talked to in the last... I don't know really, I have lost count after the many years.

"Aren't you so excited for three USA players to come to our school!" Parker beamed.

"Yay." I say, my tone faltering.

The day proceeded as always. But there was an occasional 'Are you excited!' or 'I wonder who the three players will be!'. Yeah, the best day of my life. The whole school was talking about the mystery players coming to our school.

The assembly came quicker than expected. But, here I was sitting on the bleacher waiting for the soccer players to arrive. I see our principle go on the stairs. Mrs. Winston rolls her eyes before tapping the microphone.

"Now, I will be presenting only two players from USA soccer team. Unfortunately, the third player is running late." Mrs. Winston says in a bored tone.

She puts on a fake smile before announcing, "You know him as the Cental Midfielder. But, his name is Michael Bradley!" Mrs Winston says.

On que, Bradley walks out and waves to the bleachers. The crowd screams and yelps at the sight of him. I applaud slowly, waiting for my father to come. For some reason, I knew. I just knew he was going to be here.

"Next, we have the player who scores the most. Landon Donovan, the forward!" Mrs. Winston says in her feigned amusement.

Donovan walks out and repeats what Bradley does. He jogs out of the doorway, and starts to wave at the bleachers before standing next to Bradley. I make a confused face at the two players in front of me. Hm, maybe my father wasn't apart of the mystery three.

"Now, would any students like to say something about SFHS' players?" Mrs. Winston says.

I see a microphone getting passed down to one person. I groan internally at the sight of her. Genevieve Rodgers, the Head Captain of the Cheerleaders. Fantastic! Just my lucky day.

The whole school goes silent. I close my eyes and tilt my head down. I am ashamed. Now, everyone in the whole school knows my father hates me. That was a secret I was planning to keep for the rest of my life.

A slow applaud interrupts the silence. All heads turn to the doorway. There and behold, Marco Evans. Dad walks up to the stage and takes the microphone from Mrs. Winston.

"It is very... pleasing to hear you concern. But, I wasn't aware that I hated my own daughter. None the less my own daughter not getting on the team for something other than her talent. I coached her myself. So, you would be insulting not only my daughter's career, but mine too." Dad says in a flat tone. Dad clears his throat after his long pause. "Yes, Charlotte Evans is my daughter. I may have not seen her because of my hectic schedule. But, she is still my own flesh and blood."

"If she is good as you say, Charlotte could take on the three of you and win!" A boy yells.

My jaw drops and I shake my head. No, no, no! I will not do that! Facing three of the National Soccer Team? No way in hell! This assembly is suppose to be about the whole soccer team. Not just me!

"No. Now, please be quiet and listen to what these players have to say." Mrs. Winston says.

I feel a pang of disappointment. A part of me wanted to try and play against them. But then again, I knew I could beat them. No, Charlotte. They have trained all their lives, dont get big headed.

Anyways, the assembly went on and it was very boring. But, when I came home from soccer practice. Mom and Dad were already at the dinner table. A table that we haven't used in forever. I was reluctant to sit down and eat with them. However, I want to enjoy this as much as I can. Dad wasn't here often, and I just wish he would be here tomorrow and the day after.

The only reason being Mom is absolutely glowing of happiness in his presence.
