Elizabeth's POV

I quietly got in the back of my savior's black Maserati, staring out of the tinted windows. I heard the door close and an uncomfortable silence surrounded us.

"Thanks...for helping me. It really means the world to me."

He merely nodded and went back to staring out the window. Thank goodness, the car ride only took fifteen minutes. I stepped out of the car to find myself in the presence of the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. The majestic fountain was made of marble, its water glistening in the sun. The hotel itself was a masterpiece, the red and golden carpet just hinting at the fortune it must cost to stay a night. When we entered, all the staff stood up and nodded towards Alex.

"Mr. Fox...what a pleasant surprise. Are staying for the night?" asked the hotel manager.

"No Mark, but thank you. I will just be staying in my suite for a bit. I need to take care of some business. Tell Mr. Valenchino that I am waiting for him once he arrives."

"Of course sir. Would you like any refreshments to be brought up?"

"The buffet style pantry."

"Right away sir."

We silently walked into the grand elevators, followed by two burly looking bodyguards. Alex pressed the 28th button. Only the old opera music filled the awkward silence that engulfed the tiny space. I thanked heavens when the doors finally opened, the chilling outside air greeting us.

Alex walked out and pulled out a black and gold card from his expensive leather wallet, sliding it into the key slot, a satisfying "click" greeting us into heaven. The walls were lined with cream colored wallpaper, decorative paintings and mirrors adding to its splendor. The room was furnished with plush couches and beds and the chandeliers were filled with diamonds and jewels that lighted up the room. I didn't realize that I had stopped walking until one of the bodyguards coughed and gently nudged me forward. My face flushed and I quickly scampered towards Alex, who was staring mindlessly out into the twinkling night sky. I awkwardly stood in the corner of the balcony, fumbling with my fingers.

"W...will she be ok..?" I whispered.

He didn't say anything, but his defined nod was all I needed.

"Thank you..."

A grueling half an hour passed, the thoughts of whether or not Lea was okay plaguing my mind. As I sat in the soft couch, my legs would not stop shaking. Alex looked over and gave me a small nod of assurance. He gestured towards the large assortment of desserts and dishes that laid on the marble table before me. I gingerly picked up a piece of bread, munching on it, trying to get the terrifying thoughts out of my mind.

"She'll be ok."

I was startled by Alex's voice.

"Really...?" I quivered.

He nodded and shifted his gaze back to his phone. I gently smiled and finished by piece of bread.

"I'll make sure of it..."

My head whipped over towards Alex.

"What?"

He shook his head and whispered, "Nothing".
