1.2/ Alice's POV
Toby has been glaring at me ALL night.
If looks could kill, I would have been dead hours ago.
What's wrong with him?
Is he still pissed off that I was hanging out with Owen?
Dennis has been trying to make conversation with me throughout the whole dinner, but I've just been giving him short answers.
"Alice, can you please take the dishes away and clean them," Liam asks.
"Sure," I say popping right out of my seat and gathering all the plates. Any to get the hell away from Dennis and Toby.
"I'll help," Toby says getting up.
No sit-down! I almost shout.
Toby and I start to wash the dishes.
"You can't be mad at me forever," I say to Toby.
"I'm not mad." He says quietly.
"Oh, really. Because the whole night you've been glaring at me and haven't spoken one word to me since Owen." I say.
"I'm just stressed." He says.
"So is everyone else, Toby. You're not the only one in the world going through shit."
I walk out of the kitchen and back into the dining room to gather other dishes.
When I reach over to grab a cup from Dennis, he puts his hand on my waist.
"Thank you, Alice."
"It's okay," I say smiling and fast walking back to the kitchen.
"Perv," I mumble when I'm back in the kitchen.
"What?" Toby asks.
"Nothing," I say putting away the plates Toby washed.
"I broke up with Aubrey," Toby says breaking the silence.
"What? Why?" I ask looking up at him.
"It just wasn't working out."
"Sorry to hear that," I say in an awkward way.
"It was going to happen eventually. She just couldn't accept my choices."
Toby and I continue to wash, dry and put away the dishes.
Once were done, we go back into the dining room and sit back down.
"Dinner was beautiful Beth and Liam. I should start living here if you get that every night." Dennis says.
"Well I'm not sure about every night but I would like to see you around soon again," Mum says smiling.
My phone buzzes and I look at it.
Owen- Hey Alice. It's Owen. I just wanted to make sure that you're alright after today.
Me- Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it. I'll see you at school.
