1.7/ Alice's POV
"What's wrong with him?" I ask Thea looking at Ryan.
"He's in one of his moods again." She says rolling her eyes.
"Well staring at me while he eats his apple is kind of disturbing." I say looking away but still feeling his gaze on me.
It's been a week since I found out about the two gangs and it's been a pretty fun week.
I've gone over to Owens house every night and they're a really funny group.
They had a bonfire and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever gone to.
My mum says that she's happy that I'm 'expanding my friendship group.'
If only she new what type of group it was.
Miles has been very distance lately.
I don't know why but every time I try to talk to him, he shuts down.
I have seen him hanging out with that girl Cali more at school though.
Currently Thea, Owen, Kyle, Able, Aaron, a random guy named Wilder and me are all sitting outside under a tree that overlooks the soccer field.
Ryan and his 'group' are all sitting at another tree that is in front of us.
They're all on their phones except for Ryan who is starting at us, well, me.
Owen stops talking to Kyle and looks at me.
He follows my gaze to Ryan and they have a mini staring contest.
"Come on, let's go for a walk." Owen says taking my hand and lifting me up.
I get a whiff of his cologne and it smells amazing.
Owen and I leave the group and walk on the outside of the soccer field.
"So how are you holding up with everyone? I know there is a lot of people to meet and talk to, but are you coping?" Owen asks.
"Yeah, its fine. They're all really funny and are making me feel welcome. Harry loves showing me his car collection." I say laughing.
"Yeah. He's weird like that but he's a great fighter." He says.
I see Cali and Miles with a bunch of people on the hill.
Miles looks at me and then looks back at Cali.
I sigh and Owen puts an arm around me.
"He's just being an asshole." He says.
"I get it though. He's supposed be my brother not my enemy. We used to do everything together and now he can't stand to look at me." I say frowning.
"It's not your fault, Alice. I've seen him hanging out with Dennis and Toby. I think that he's part of his gang." Owen says.
"What? No, he can't be. Not my brother." I say shaking my head.
This can't be happening.
Why him?
"I'm sorry, Alice. Dennis makes me out to be the bad guy but he's worse. I've done some bad things but Dennis makes them out to be the ultimate bad. That's what he's told Miles. That's why he doesn't talk to you anymore."
"I just wish Miles would've talked to me about all of this first. Instead of believing the guy who doesn't even care about him." I say.
"Miles chose to believe him. That was his decision and we have to live with it. Come on, let's go get ready for class."
Owen and I walk back towards the school.
I feel Owens hand slip into mine.
I don't tell him to stop I just let it be.
It fells nice.
"Let's skip the last two classes," Owen says stopping. "Let's just leave this place. When are we actually going to need History? They're all dead anyway."
"Owen, we can't just leave," I say.
"Why not? I wanna be with you, Alice. I want to go somewhere where it's just us."
"My parents will kill me if they find out I skipped class."
"Then let's make sure they don't find out." He says smirking.
"I'm so going to regret this." I sigh.
Owen and I get our bags and get into his car.
"So, where too?" He asks starting the engine.
"Hey, this was your idea. You chose."
He drives off and turns the radio on.
We listen to the music for about 15 minutes and then finally arrive in an empty parking lot.
Owen parks the car and then we both get out.
I look around but there is only bushland visible.
"We haven't come here so you can kill me, have we?" I ask laughing.
"No, of course not. There is this really pretty landscape I want to show you." He laughs.
Owen takes my hand and we walk into the bush/forest.
It was raining last night so there is a nice wet forest smell.
It's relly beautiful. Orange leaves on the ground mixed with the dirt and sticks.
It's autumn so there is Orange everywhere.
We walk in silence with only the sound of our shoes crunching on the fallen leaves.
"How did you find this place?" I ask after a few minutes.
"I used to run a lot when I was younger to get out the busy house. I found this place when I was 16 and it hasn't aged. It looks scary from the outside but when you walk further and further it gets more beautiful."
"I'm glad you found it. It's amazing. So calm."
We walk a little more and then stop.
Wow. There's a huge lake with the orange trees reflecting off the water.
There is a seating bench that looks like it was put there to enjoy the view.
"This is what I wanted to show you," Owen says.
"Owen this is, so calm looking. I feel like I could stay here forever, with you."
We sit down on the bench and look at the lake.
"Did you make this?" I ask touching the bench.
"Yeah, when I first found this place. I got tired of standing so I built this."
"I'm happy you did," I say smiling.
I can feel Owen looking at me while I look at the lake.
"Alice, can I ask you something?"
I look at him and nod.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
