Amanda took her books out of her locker, keeping them into her bag.
"Wow, you're in a rush.", said Lisa, who had been watching her friend for a while. Lisa happens to be Amanda's best friend. Even though they have only been close for a year, they managed to get along pretty well. She is also one of the well-known students of their school. With long, dark wavy hair and a figure that makes all the other school girls jealous, why wouldn't she be famous?
Amanda said in a short breath, " You don't understand! Today's the day!" Amanda shut the door of her locker and began walking towards the school exit. Amanda, however was different than Lisa. Her hair was also long but it was light brownish blonde and her figure was skinny and petite as well.
"Hey, slow down! You're walking too fast in the school hallway." Lisa chased after Amanda who was literally racing in front of her.
Amanda turned back to Lisa. " They never mentioned any rules about walking in a fast pace" she said in annoyance.
Lisa rolled her eyes at her best friend's behavior. Amanda had always been the calm and collective type. Never has she been this hasty. She began to wonder what was making Amanda all fired up today. Considering that she'd rather wait for Amanda to tell her about it later on, she continued catching up with her best friend's stride.
As they reached the school's parking lot, a familiar voice caught their attention.
"Amanda!" the tall, slightly tanned skin guy with dark hair called out to her. It was Nate, Amanda's only closest guy friend. Lisa leered at Nate since she never really liked him even before they met each other.
"Nate. Hey what's up? You're on your way back too?" Amanda walked up towards him.
"Yeah. You look kinda tensed. What's the problem?", he asked with his eyes half squinting from the sun rays.
"Oh, you know.. I'm getting a little brother today. I can't wait! 17 years of being an only child is starting to bore me out. " she smiled.
"I see. Well, wouldn't want to keep you delayed here. I'll see you around." Nate moved closer towards Amanda and whispered to her ear, "You look pretty today by the way," he smiled, leaving Amanda with her cheeks turning red.
Amanda had always liked Nate. Not just as a friend, but more than that. They met when they entered the same club a year ago. She confessed her feelings towards him few weeks ago but Nate clearly said that he was not ready to be committed since he just recently broke up with his own girlfriend. Amanda felt that she was lucky enough to still keep Nate around as her friend but at times she felt that he was just feeling sorry for her.
"Hello? Earth to Amanda!" Lisa waved her hand in front of Amanda. Amanda snapped out of her trance.
"What is it Lis?"
"You drooling over that fuckboy is what I don't understand about."
"Oh come on. You don't mean that. He's nice." Amanda straightened her bag and walked towards a parked car in the parking lot. Lisa walked in front of her, making her unable to proceed in her tracks. "What now Lis?"
"Do you like Nate? I mean, like, are you in love with him or something?"
"Why? Does it bother you if I happen to like Nate?"
