Sommer Residence (Sunday Noon)
Brandon woke up by the smell of something being baked from the kitchen. He opened his eyes slowly. He was still in the living room but his sister wasn't with him anymore. He tried to lift his thigh one at a time. Hm not too bad. No cramps. His sister probably wasn't that heavy. He got up and stretched his arms. He decided to take a look in the kitchen to see what his sister is up to.
In the kitchen, Amanda was standing in front of the oven, holding a bowl in her hands. Brandon wondered what she could be holding. He walked up towards her.
He was now directly behind her. Amanda, noticing that there is a presence behind her, she swiftly turns to see who it was. Their eyes met directly for a few seconds before they decided to look away from each other. There was silence for a while between them.
Brandon cleared his throat. "What are you doing?"
"I'm waiting to brush the egg-wash onto the pie," she said, still not looking at him. She slowly turns around to face the oven again.
"What pie is it?"
"Banana."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
Brandon felt that their conversation isn't going to extend any longer so he decided to go upstairs and shower up.
A while after that...
Amanda was slicing the pie when Brandon entered the kitchen. The air in the kitchen smelt of banana pie and peppermint shampoo the moment he entered.
"Oh my god Brandon. You are ruining the sweet smell of my delicious banana pie!" Amanda shot a glare at her brother.
"Yeah well, sorry for being the squeaky clean guy in the kitchen." He said, as his spearmint breath spreads towards his sister's smell sense.
"Ugh! The smell in here should be smelling like a pie heaven but noooo you had to come in here with your nice smelling shampoo and breath!" Amanda said, feeling frustrated.
Brandon smiled to himself. He was happy that even after what happened last night, they weren't awkward with each other for long. He had always enjoyed getting on his sister's nerves.
He walked over to the cabinet, ignoring his sister's furious glare. He took two plates and two forks for the both of them. Passing them to his sister whom was still looking at him with dissatisfaction written all over her face, he said, "What? Quit spreading saliva onto the pie with your never-ending nag and cut us both a piece will ya? The pie's probably getting cold too."
Brandon smirked as his sister sighed with annoyance yet she obliged to what he said.
The moment Amanda placed the slice of pie onto his plate, Brandon immediately forked a small part of it into his mouth. Amanda glared at her brother, thinking what an impatient person he is. She rolled her eyes and continued cutting a slice for herself.
Brandon savoured the warm, crispy texture of the pie in his mouth. The sweetness of the banana pieces along with its melted juices lingered on his tongue, making him feel crave for more. He had never tasted a banana pie this good! Or maybe it's because it was his first time tasting a banana pie.
By the time Amanda had kept the remaining of the pie into the oven, she was surprised to see her brother's plate all cleaned up. He finished eating already?? How is that possible? I haven't even tasted mine, like, did he vacuum up his pie or something?
Brandon saw his sister's eyebrows rise in surprise upon looking at his empty plate. He smiled a little before saying, "Hey, you can't blame me. I've never tasted a pie that good you know."
Amanda felt her cheeks turning warm. Ugh. This kid. He needs to stop pretending to be nice to me. It's really...distracting. Amanda pretended to be indifferent about his compliment.
"Well...do you want another slice?" she asked.
"I...can have another slice?" he asked her back, feeling surprised.
"Yeah sure. I don't think anyone else will be eating it aside from the two of us anyway." She shrugged, looking at the oven.
"Are you going to get another slice later?"
"Of course. I baked it, I know how good it tastes. I'm not going to waste not eating it, duh."
Brandon smiled at her. "I have an idea."
Sommer Residence (Living Room)
Both the Sommer siblings were on the sofa, sitting cosily besides each other. They were watching The Avengers movie whilst sharing the pie that Amanda baked earlier.
Amanda let out a quiet yawn but Brandon seemed to notice it. "You're still tired with all that sleep you got last night?" he asked.
"What? I'm not tired." She responded defensively. "I never liked eating in cosy atmospheres 'cause this is what I get from it. I get sleepy from cosy surroundings."
Brandon smirked. "Yeah, sure." He continued to spoon some pie into his mouth.
Amanda spooned some for herself as well. The both of them ate quietly while focusing on the movie.
Amanda somehow felt like she was enjoying the quality time she's spending with her brother. She felt safe and cosy; which undeniably, was a good feeling to her. But she could not help to wonder if this was ever to last long. She was pretty sure the moment school starts tomorrow, all of the quality time she spent with her brother would become a memory. Schooldays are when they go back to being themselves, where they despise one another. Amanda sighed. Oh well. Some things are just meant to last temporarily.
