Chapter 9: Confusion

Karma's POV

I laid down under the tree, skipping class. Honestly, I don't even care about school anymore...

"Should I visit Nagisa today?"

...

"No... I don't think she wants to see me after yesterday. And besides, Asano will probably be there..."

It was only a week ago she was smiling and laughing. And then... that happened. I cover my face with my arm, "I guess everything is my fault in the first place..."

So... is this it? I'm just gonna leave Nagisa with Asano, with her happy without knowing the truth?

...No. No way I'll let this happen.

Nagisa's POV

I sat up, looking at Asano-kun beside me. "Thanks for visiting me, Asano-kun."

"No problem. So, how are you feeling lately?" He asked.

"I'm feeling better... Most of my bruises healed already..." I answered.

"That's good then."

...

Something feels... different for some reason...

I feel like... I'm missing something... Something important...

I look at the end table beside me. A sketchbook is there with a few stationary. Oh, right, Asano-kun gave me that...

I turned to him, smiling. "Thanks again for the sketchbook, by the way."

"Huh? O-oh, yeah... You're welcome." He smiled.

I reached out for the sketchbook. But before I could reach it, Asano-kun spoke, "By the way, where's your phone? I've been texting you." He said.

...That was random.

"Ah, it's here..." I took my phone, showing it to him. I unlocked it, and saw messages from an unknown number and... Akabane Karma?

...Who is that?

This Akabane Karma texted me... 14 times. Do I know him? No, I don't know anyone by that name...

I pressed "Delete Contact".

The unknown number was probably Asano-kun. "But... how come I don't have your number? I'm sure I registered it already..." I said, looking at him with a questioning look.

"Hm? I don't know... Maybe you somehow deleted it by accident?"

"Huh? Maybe... But I don't think I'll accidentally delete--"

He took my phone, "Here, let me register my number."

I stayed quiet for a few seconds, but then said, "O-okay..." and let him register his number.

"Here," He gave me my phone back. I looked at my contacts, and saw "Asano Gakushuu" in it.

I smiled, "I'll reply to your texts now."

"Yeah."

...

As I thought, something does seem strange... But... I don't know what it is...

Karma's POV

Dammit! Why isn't she answering my texts?

Well, I guess because she doesn't know who I am anymore... And I doubt that Asano made a word or something for her to snap out of it...

What should I do now?

Going there wouldn't be any good... She'll just tell me to leave because she sees me as "The violent guy who tried to punch her friend". And Asano probably being there does not make it any better.

Wait... So everything she feels about Asano now is how she feels about me? So she would protect me if I was about to get hit or something?

...

That just makes me wanna make her remember me more. I should figure out a way soon...
