Why Today?

Cas hurried to his room to get dressed. He had been caught off guard by Dean bringing up his superhero identity. But there's no way Dean could know, right? Cas hadn't told anyone about his powers, and he was pretty damn careful about concealing his identity while in Dark Angel mode.

He sighed as pulled off his t-shirt, replacing it with his white button up. Maybe he should just tell The Hunter to piss off. If people were thinking they were partners then they were around each other far too much. Jeez, Cas didn't even like being around him. But Hunter made it quite clear he liked being around him.

Now fully dressed, Cas grabbed his keys and walked out the door. Setting off in the direction of the library, Cas began to think. The Hunter wasn't so bad. He was a good fighter. He could take care of himself. Never missed a shot with his gun. No, fighting wasn't his problem, it was the talking.

Cas doesn't talk much, and when he's Dark Angel he talks even less. But with The Hunter it seemed talking was his favorite thing ever. A comment here, a sarcastic remark there. It seemed his mouth was always moving. Cas had no idea why he liked to talk to him so much, and even worse, he would have no idea how to respond. Most of their conversations ended with Angel flying off.

His train of thought was interrupted by a pole he almost smashed right into. He looked around him, he had no idea where he was. He estimated he had missed the library by about 3 blocks. Great.

He started to walk back the way he had come when a voice came from behind him, "Stop! Stay right where you are!" He felt the barrel of a gun pressing against his back. Shit.

"Okay, let's just calm down." He told the stranger, who sounded male telling by the voice. "Calm? I'm perfectly calm. You're the one with the gun against your back!" Cas sighed and began to turn around, only to hear the gun being cocked. "Relax, I'm just turning around."

"Oh no you aren't, wallet. Now." Cas groaned. Of course he had to get mugged, while not in costume. Not even wearing a mask. He could knock the kid out. Or disarm him. "Stop!" Another voice yelled. A police officer. He was relieved, until he felt cold metal against his head.

"Don't come any closer or I'll shoot him!" The kid yelled. Okay, this was getting stupid. He took his arm and knocked the mugger out in one swift motion with an elbow to the face. He heard a thump as the kid hit the ground. The police officer stared at him in awe. "Where'd you learn to do that?" She asked, staring with wide eyes. He looked back at her and said, "Training." He turned around and looked at the kid passed out on the ground.

The lady cop cleared her throat. "Right, sir I need you to come down to the station." He internally groaned. Today was going to be a long day.

Dean's POV

Dean ran into the police station as soon as he hopped out of his car. He ran up to the front desk. "I'm here to pick up Castiel Novak, is he okay? Did he get hurt?" The lady looked up at him and smiled "Castiel is fine, he's just finishing up with officer Bradbury."

"Dean!" He heard someone call his name and he looked up to see Cas walking towards him waving. "Cas! Are you okay? I got a call and they told me you were mugged and-"

"Dean, I'm fine, really."

"Sure is! I saw him knock out the culprit like it was nothing!" A bright cheerful redhead exclaimed from behind his friend. "And you are?"

"Officer Bradbury. Call me Charlie, since it's my name and all." Dean liked this girl. "Hey Charlie, I'm Dean." He held his hand out for her to shake it. "Nice to meet you. Oh, and thanks for saving my friend."

"I didn't do much saving, it was Cassie here who knocked the mugger out." Cas blushed. "Alright, well I've gotta go drop him off at his work and get back to mine. It was nice meeting you Charlie." The officer smiled "It was nice meeting you too."

Cas and Dean walked out of the station and got into Dean's Impala together. "You sure you're okay?" Dean asked for the fifth time. "I'm perfectly fine Dean. But I'm also three hours late for work."

"Got it."

Minutes later Dean pulled up in front of the city public library. "This is your stop." He said, trying to sound humorous but failing. Cas frowned, "I'm okay Dean, really." There was a silence for a few seconds. "Okay, just be careful." Cas smiled "It's not like I'm going to get robbed at a library, Dean." Castiel waved after he stepped out of the car. Dean waved back, pulling the impala out of the parking lot, and on his way back to the shop.

"He'll be fine."
