FORTY EIGHT HOURS EARLIER.

"Are you ready to go?"
I could hear Skye in the kitchen packing the sandwiches.
"Ready as always!" I smile at her and carry our suitcase to the van,"Where too next? We've stopped in Quebec, D.C, Japan, Rome, Paris, and now London."I puff out a breath of air as I push the heavy suitcase into the trunk.
"How about Ireland?" Skye throws the sandwiches into the front seat.
"Sounds good, we have everything right?"I hop in the passenger seat and Skye nods.
"Off we go!"

THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER.

At this point we had been driving for hours..in silence...I should've talked to her more..
"We're almost to the dock."
I turn and look at her. "Then another half hour on the ferry." I spin my finger in the air as a sarcastic celebration.
"Oh come on you love spending time with me." Skye gives me a light punch on the arm.
"Even though you're a dork." I look at her and laugh. I turn my focus back to my window and watch the scenery go by.
I didn't know...I just..didn't know...
"Hey look." I pointed out the window to a flock of gulls in a v formation," we must almost be there." I say looking back at Skye to see her reaction. Her eyes are looking at the road but you can still see a faint smile on her face.
"Yeah nerdymcnerdpants. We're almost there."
I punch her arm. "Not my fault I studied in a vet clinic."
She turns the music on and starts singing along, very loudly. I start singing with her too.
Before we know it we had been singing for fifteen minutes and had arrived at the dock.
"You buy the tickets this time." I jab her arm.
She sighs and gets out of the car, walks up to the window and buys the tickets and a pass for the car. She sticks the pass to the car and gets back in the driving seat.
She glaces at me, "wimp"
We both laugh as we pull onto the boat.
"I never liked boats." I add.
"WIMP!" She says it louder this time.
"Oh bite me."

~~~
The car is parked where it's supposed to and Skye is dragging me around the boat to "explore"
"Can we slow...down....I need...to breathe."
She giggles at me, "look a bar let's go get some drinks." She points to a little area in one of the rooms. I nod and she drags me in there," what do you want?" She looks at me and I shrug, still out of breath.
"I'll take two martinis please." She tells the bartender.
"Your legs are too long." I tell her after finally catching my breath, "You run too fast for your own good."
She looks at me with her soft ocean blue eyes and I melt inside.
I shouldve just told her then and there before it was too late..
But the meltyness just came out as a giggle.
"Here are you drinks." The tender places two drinks in front of us.
"Ooh fancy" Skye picks up her drink and sticks out one pinky like royalty do in Europe. We both laugh.
After talking for a while a voice comes over the speaker.
"Arriving:Dublin."
"That's our stop homie." I look at Skye and she nods.
"Thank you" she tips the tender and we head down to our car where we wait for our turn to pull off.
"Shall we splurge on this trip and get a good hotel this time?" I look at her and hold up a wad of cash.
"You had that this whole time you little shit!" She laughs,"You're buying dinner."
It wasn't long before we found a good hotel.
"You check in." Skye shoves me toward the reception desk.
"One room..please."
The woman behind the desk looks over my shoulder and sees Skye.
"One king size bed?" She looks back at me.
"Oh um..we aren't uh...okay.."
The woman takes some of the money and hands me a key card, "Room 312."
"Yes..uhm...thank you.." I walk back over to Skye, " Because you made me do that we have to share a bed now."
She sighs "You'll conquer your anxiety eventually."
"I'll be in the room you get the bags." I stick my tongue out at her as the elevator door closes.
"309....310....311....Ah! 312" I slide the key card and open the door. It's a nice room. There's a oak desk with a computer chair, a large flat screen TV with a channel guide, the bed, a chair in the corner of the room and a small fridge.
"Nice nice." I say to myself. I peek in the bathroom, just like normal, a toilet, a shower, a sink.
I jump face first into the bed and stretch out to cover the whole thing. I just get comfortable when I hear a knock on the door. It's then I realized I forgot to give Skye a card. Oops.
I walk to the door and laugh a little.
"Who is it?" I whisper.
"It's me."
"Who's me?
"Skye, you idiot. Open the door!"
"The sky can't knock?!" I laugh again and open the door to see a soaking wet Skye standing in front of me, dragging the luggage  behind her. I run to the window and see it's raining.
"Oh I love the rain" I smile. By now skye is inside and staring at me.
"I'm taking a shower." She says.
"Are you sure you don't want me to join you, my gay lover?" I laugh and lay back on the bed.
"No." She laughs and closes the bathroom door.
