I woke up to the gorgeous, significant scent of Justin. I kept my eyes closed as I waited for myself to wake up a little. My chest was touching Justin’s, the thumping rhythm of his steady heartbeat pounding in sync to mine. His body heat warmed me up, his minty breath hitting my forehead as he breathed out.
He brushed back a strand of hair covering my eyes, before taking a small piece of my hair between his fingers. He began to twirl it gently; careful not to wake me as he thought I was still asleep.
Deciding I wanted to gaze into those dark, glistening orbs of his; I fake myself awakening.
I nudged my nose further into his warm, rising chest; before taking it away and leaning up.
His plump lips were mere centimetres away from mine; and I was so tempted to dive straight in and kiss him right there.
Smiling, Justin placed a sweet kiss on my hairline; making the butterflies in my stomach awake like I had done just minutes ago. “Hey” he spoke, his voice deep and husky.
Chuckling, a grin quickly settled on my lips as I replayed in my head the wonderful events of late last night. “Hi” I yawned, my voice muffled as I placed the back of my hand to my mouth.
His warm hands gripped my waist a little tighter – although his hold was still extremely gentle – and pulled me towards him even more. Our chests were so firmly pressed against each other that not even a thin magazine stood the chance of squishing between us.
My head now rested on the plush white pillow beneath it, and our faces were perfectly in line with each other.
I brought my hand up to his face before ever-so-gently brushing the smooth pad of my thumb over his pink lips. My thumb felt numb as he pecked it slightly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
I smiled with him, my eyes sparking as I did so. Removing my thumb from over his lips, I used my thumb to trace over the small scar beneath his left eye. Justin stayed perfectly still, his honey coloured orbs looking straight into mine, his aim of where to look was perfect – and I felt, for a decimal of a second, something strange pull at my heartstrings.
He nudged his nose into my wrist, his cheek pressing against my palm; before his turned his head and placed a small, sweet kiss in the centre of my palm. And there they were – the butterflies.
Our foreheads lent gently against each other, our lips barely apart before, finally, they were joined together in such a beautiful, stunning kiss.
******************************
21st December, exactly four days to Christmas. I’d decided that I would spend all of today Christmas shopping. Got to do it at some point. The streets of New York were still buried under mounds of snow, and the pavements were slowly melting as the Lorries drove past spreading road salt. The streets were extremely busy though, and so I curse myself for leaving my Christmas Shopping so late. It was bright this morning, the sun shone down and yet seemed to have no effect what so ever on the icy streets.
Today would be my only day spent out without Justin and Jazmyn, couldn’t ruin the Christmas surprise now could I? I had numerous ideas for Justin, Jazmyn and Pattie. And I knew exactly where to get their presents. I didn’t have to bother about buying anybody else presents, my family and I never bothered to contact each other near Christmas time; and so that’s why my Mom’s call to me came as quite a shock.
I threw on a white woolly scarf, wrapping it extremely loosely around my neck once. Then I shoved a matching beanie over my head, letting my loose curls flow out the sides. I’d decided to curl my hair only slightly, wanting a change once in awhile.
I stuffed my phone into my coat pocket, before I walked over to my room door. My room, for once, was rather warm; so I reluctant to leave. Battling with myself, but finally able to face the cold air swirling around outside, I opened the door and stepped out onto the freezing hallway. I locked the door behind me, before jogging slightly down the stairs to lobby, where it was considerably warmer. It felt almost – strange, not knocking on Pattie’s door and seeing a pink-cheeked Justin or a small Jazmyn running over to me. I ran my fingers along the wooden banister and I stepped down each step. The staff had decorated the whole building with tinsel, Christmas trees and various other Christmas decorations. The stair banisters had red, green and gold tinsel wrapped tightly around them.
As I stepped into the lobby, the staff behind the desk smiled robotically at me, their confused eyes meeting my flustered face. I was worn out already just by jogging down a flight of stairs – a pretty long one though.
A large Christmas tree stood proudly in the centre of the lobby, capturing the attention of shoppers as they walked past the building’s large, glass doors.
The tree was fully decked out, at least three different sets of Christmas lights wrapped around it. Colourful tinsel was randomly swirled over the tree, almost glistening as the light from the Christmas bulbs reflects off them. Children staying at the hotel were asked to decorate their own star; cover it in glitter and so on.
And then write a secret message to Santa on the back of the star.
But other than the numerous glitter coated stars dotted around near the bottom of the tree; decorations consisted of red and gold baubles, red and white candy canes – of which seemed to be disappearing rapidly – and a large star at the very peak of the tree.
I’d always loved Christmas trees, they just simply brought me joy – they were a significant symbol of Christmas.
Finally taking my awestruck gaze away from the masterpiece, I smiled warmly at Henry and walked out onto the frozen streets.
“Morning Miss” Henry nodded, bowing his head slightly as I turned to respond,
“Morning Henry, ready for Christmas?” I smiled, my teeth showing through. As I breathed in it made me feel colder and colder; the frosty air circulating around my warm body.
“Oh, nearly!” he spoke, rolling his grey eyes jokingly.
Chuckling, I waved with one hand before starting to walk,
I knew I was taking a huge risk walking along these glaced over streets when their extremely slippy, but so were the thousands of people hunting around shops for Christmas Presents. At least I wasn’t alone in this one.
I soon blended in with the crowd, most people’s heads were dressed with hats and so, yet again – I wasn’t alone in this one. My red waterproof boots flicked up small specks of snow as I walked.
Making sure I had more than enough money, I huffed, preparing myself for the big shopping spree I was about to take on.
