Melissa was surprised to find her father home when she woke up one sunny day. She saw him reading a newspaper when she walked past the living room to go to the kitchen. Mrs Anderson was in there doing whatever she was doing.

"Oh, I'm surprised to see you up this early." Mrs Anderson spoke once her daughter stepped in to the kitchen. Melissa glanced at the clock on the wall, 10:20AM. Yeah, early mom, she thought.

"Yeah, I'm surprised too." Melissa replied while pouring milk into the glass. It was a habit since she was in primary school to have a glass of milk once she wakes up in the morning.

Mrs Anderson chuckled at that. Melissa knew her mother noted the sarcasm.

   "What are you doing?"

"Trying this recipe." Mrs Anderson pointed at a book that was in front of her. On the page, Melissa could see an image of what looked like a cake(?). "I've been wanting to try it for a long time but I just got the ingredients needed today since your dad is home."

"I was surprised." Melissa raised her eyebrows. "So, you went to the grocery store with him?"

"Yeah, obviously. By the way, your breakfast is in the microwave." Mrs Anderson started to mix the ingredients and stir them altogether. "You don't have any plans today?"

Melissa tapped on particular buttons on the microwave to warm her 'breakfast'. While waiting for the meal to get reheated, Melissa leaned her body against the countertop, folding her arms.

"Do I look like someone who have a plan?"

"Who knows you have a date. I was just asking anyway."

"Mom... You know I don't like that topic. I already have the love of my life."

   "That Grey boy again?"

   "His name is Greyson."

"Yeah, whatever his name is. Mel, you have to wake up and be serious now. Have you even think about your future? What are you going to do after this?" Now, Melissa didn't like how serious her mother sounded.

"I did... perhaps." The microwave did a 'ting' sound, indicating that it had finished heating the food.

"Seems like you two are in a deep conversation." Suddenly Mr Anderson appeared on the doorframe. "What's the topic we have here?"

Mrs Anderson continued to her work. Melissa knew her mother purposely kept her mouth shut to let her answer her father's question. It was about her after all.

"So... we were talking about what I'm gonna do after this. That was all." Melissa said and started eating her food.

   "So, what's your plan?"

"I don't really know." She shrugged.

"Have you think about going to college?" Mr Anderson asked again.

   "I haven't. Have no idea."

"Seriously..." Mrs Anderson sounded annoyed. Melissa sighed.

"I don't know, really. I did think about going to college and study degree but I'm too lazy to think what course I should take and which college I should attend. You can't blame me on that." Melissa honestly admitted.

"Of course you're lazy to think about your own future. The only thing that was on your mind the whole time is that boy."

Why did mom suddenly go against me on this? -_-

"That's not true, okay. I did think about other things as well." No, that's actually true. All Melissa ever think all day all night is Greyson Chance. "Oh, is there any private tutors for... I mean is that possible if I just do my degree from home?"

"Are you kidding me, Melissa? Really?" Mrs Anderson's eyes widened as if Melissa just said something crazy. Indeed, she did.

"Of course I was kidding. Chill, mommy."

No, I wasn't. But knowing mom, she knows what my intention is; to make it easier for me to fangirl. If I had to attend college, I'll probably have no time to spend on fangirling, plus, I hate social life. I don't want to meet new people and introduce myself like we all did in primary school. Oh, I really hate that.

"Okay, okay. No need to get fussed about this thing." Mr Anderson raised his hands to stop both women from continuing their debate.

"Of course we need to worry." Mrs Anderson interrupted. She poured the now mixed ingredients into a rectangle-shaped container before she put it in the oven.

"Yeah, I know. Listen to me first. Mel, you want to enter college, don't you?"

   "Y-Yeah, I guess."

"Okay, I will handle this thing and settle everything for you. All you have to do is just study and no need to worry about anything. Does that sound alright?"

"Really? You will do everything?" Melissa asked in disbelief.

"Yes, but you have to promise us that you will focus on your studies. I know we don't have to worry about you but still, do your best."

"Yes, yes. I promise! Thank you, dad!" Melissa said cheerfully.

Now why was she so happy? It was because entering college is not something that you can do easily especially when you just left high school, when you know nothing about the real world outside and the process that you need to get through before you can study your desired course for how long it's going to take. Having Mr Anderson taking in charge of everything she was supposed to do herself was a big relief for Melissa because she would just sit there doing nothing and in a blink of an eye it's all done. Study was the part left for her to do and Melissa knew no matter how busy her father was, he knew what best for her. She's got nothing to worry.

"Mom, you heard that? It's now settled, alright?" Melissa raised an eyebrow at her mother and made a 'I won this argument' face.

"Thank you for saving our daughter and brought her back to the right path." Mrs Anderson said while placing her hand on her chest, being dramatic. Her husband just laughed at that.

"What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about quitting my fangirl life."

"Gradually you will because you have no idea how college life is like."

"Whatever. That doesn't affect me that much. I know my feeling won't betray me." Melissa put her plate into the dishwasher. "I'm gonna be in my room. Don't forget to call me for lunch." She winked at her mother before she exited the kitchen leaving her parents alone. Mr Anderson slightly shook his head at both of his beloved women.

Melissa knew how her mother was hurting inside when Mr Anderson was too busy with work. She disliked how her father barely had time for their family. Nevertheless, there was still time where they would gather as a family and Melissa wished she could freeze the time and let the three of them cherish every second as if it will never happen again.
