"You're not my mother!" I shouted in a fit of rage. I threw it at her with all my strength. A lamp. I just threw a lamp at Harley. It shattered over her head and she fell to the ground. She seemed to be unconscious, but I couldn't care less.
"Melanie?" Jack yelled. "What's wrong?" Jack walked into the room and saw Harley's unconscious body on the floor, surrounded by shattered ceramic, metal, glass, and a lampshade. "What happened?" he sighed.
"Harlequin happened! She thinks that she's my mother, Jack! She called me that word! She had the nerve to think that she could pretend to be my mother and call me that! She-!" Jack cut my rant off by putting his hand over my mouth.
"Breathe, Melanie," Jack slowly removed his hand from my mouth and started taking deep breaths with me. I slowly started to cry and hugged him.
"Why did you save me? Why was I worth your time?" I asked in between sobs. Jack held me closer and I let my tears fall onto his jacket.
"Your mother begged me. Let's just say, we had a history," Jack vaguely stated.
"So why not save her? What importance do I have?" I sobbed.
"Jesus, Melanie. What's with all these questions?"
"In case you forgot, I can't remember anything except for these snippets! It makes me so confused and I just don't know what to do! I need answers!" I yelled in pain. Jack broke the hug and wiped my tears away.
"I think I liked you better when you were you and not this big softie," Jack huffed and walked away, picking up Harley off of the floor, and carrying her away. I looked around the room and Jeff had disappeared. I pulled the blankets over my face and cried myself to sleep.
-----
I awoke to the sounds of gunshots ringing throughout the living room. I got out of bed, grabbed my crutches and peeked through a crack in the door. It was Kacy shooting at Jack's goons. I opened the door and hobbled over to her.
"Stop!" I yelled. The goons put their guns down but Kacy kept hers up.
"Come on, Mel. I'm getting you out of here," she whispered.
"That's not the brightest idea," Jack whispered from behind her. Kacy turned around slowly. Her hands were quivering in fear as she tried to hold the gun up. "You see, friend of my property, I own Miss Melanie over here," he chuckled.
"Excuse me? I am not an object! Who says you own me?" I snapped.
"Glad you asked, Dollface," I flinched at his words as he started to lift my shirt. "This does," Jack pointed to a large J tattoo on the side of my waist. I had no words. I felt the tattoo and it definitely was not temporary. He cackled in amusement as Kacy dropped her gun in shock. "It's also on her wrist, and her ankle."
"When was this?" I asked Jack. He shrugged.
"When you got here, I guess," his devilish smile pierced through my eyes and saw into my soul. "But wait! There's more!" Jack showed my back to Kacy but I couldn't see.
"What is it?" I questioned.
"How could you do this to her?" Kacy screeched. She tackled Jack with tears in her eyes.
"Kacy stop!" I pulled her off of him. She was still swinging punches at the air and sobbing like there was no tomorrow.
"This man! No no no! This thing, this creature kidnaps you, and hurts you! Stop protecting him!" she managed to say through sobs. Jack smirks at me. I knew what he was about to do. I shook my head at him but he nodded and grinned.
"She wanted it. I have video evidence here to prove it," Jack chuckled.
"You're a liar! You're a piece of shit that deserves to be tortured until his natural occurring death!"
"He's a psychopath, Kace. I'm sure he'd love that," I mumbled.
"Let's watch the video, shall we?" he offered. "It's in your room, Dollface. I'm hoping you remembered where," he shooed me away. I searched through all of the drawers and eventually found a flash drive with a white piece of tape on it that said 'oath' in capital letters. I walked back out to see Kacy flaring her nostrils at Jack while he just stared at me. I tossed him the flash drive and he tossed it to a goon that set the whole thing up for us to watch.
"Kacy, before you watch this, I just want you to know that I've done some really messed up things in the past. Things I can't remember. I hope you don't think less of me," I looked at my shoes before Kacy hugged me and whispered in my ear.
"I'm going to get you out of here, Mel," she pulled away from the hug and spoke normally. "I don't care what you did. I know you well enough to know that this was a point in your life where you were brainwashed or tortured into thinking these things," if only I knew if she was right.

Hello, lovelies!
It's going to be a rough few days. I've written a chapter in advance to prepare for school starting and I think I'm going to be sticking to a weekly updating schedule just to give myself some time to adjust to high school and all that (btw my freshman orientation was today and it was so stressful because I couldn't get my ID, locker or combination, and advisory class today because I hadn't turned in my physical until a few hours ago so now I'm going to get bombarded with all of that stuff on the first day so yeah stress). I have an AP class and two honors classes my first year so as I get into the school year this might change. My sister is moving into her dorm room tomorrow so I'll have the house to myself and try to write a ton and get some more inspiration (no promises though). From now on I think I'll be writing chapters in bulk (meaning I'll write about three chapters at once and save them in case I don't have time to get an update in so I can just post a previously written one). Anyways bare with me for the next couple of weeks. I'm sure once I get used to school I will have enough time to update regularly.
Thanks again for reading this story! All votes, comments, and shares are appreciated (unless you're being extremely negative and not at all constructive then just get out. The door looks like an 'x' or back button. Just get out of here rn please. K thanks).
