"Hey, you!"
I look up from my paper on Bast and look around, wondering who the person is whisper- yelling for. I know it can't be for me because the only two who know I'm usually here are in math class.
"Psssst! You in the corner!" The voice says a bit louder. And it sounds a bit more familiar as well.
I slowly turn and my face nearly breaks from the grin that breaks out. "Oh my Goddess!"
(Oh my Goddess? It's 'oh my god', right? Oh well I like 'oh my goddess' better!)
She looks relieved, probably because I finally noticed her.
I quickly gather my stuff and head two tables over to her. "When did you get back?" I question.
"Back from where?" She asks, confused.
I roll my eyes, knowing she's messing with me. "Your trip! Your parents took you to Barcelona, right?"
"Uh yeah..." She says trailing off.
I wait a beat, and when she doesn't continue I demand more. "No details?"
She looks conflicted. "It was fine... very, uh, very...Spanish-y..."
She dragged me right into confused land before anger land yanks me into itself. "Something happened? Wait, you're back early because they had another 'emergency' with their company, didn't they?"
Her face has an expression I can't decipher, and her mouth opens and closes, wordlessly. She tucks a few strand of white hair behind her ear, trying to find words, most likely in a weak defense for them.
"I know you don't like it when I talk about your adoptive parents, but seriously? Goddess, Remy, I'm sorry but why can't they actually spend time with you and-"
I sigh at her sad look (which looks a bit off, for some reason) and let the anger go. "Rem, I'm sorry. Did your parents leave town? You know you can always stay at mine, if you don't want to go home."
Her eyes widen and she blurts, "Yes, please!"
I smile again, "Great, just text your parents because you know my mom will ask."
She nods, "Okay, cool-"
She's interrupted by the bell, and I gather my things again. "Meet me in the front parking lot after school, okay? Did you bring your car today?"
She shakes her head. "No I was...dropped off? Is that okay?"
Excited, I grin, "Yup, I got us a ride- and I have some important news!"
"What is it?" She asks curiously as we walk out the library's side door.
"It's a surprise!" I leave her there confused.
After school I'm practically jumping up and down.
Spotting Remy, I frantically wave her over.
"Hey- so what's that surprise?" She immediately demands.
I smirk, "Impatient, are you? Besides, it's good news!"
I smile even more as the moment approaches.
"Remy, meet my girlfriend, Venus!" I say practically dragging Venus the last few steps.
Remy freezes, staring at Venus. Venus smiles, "Hey babe, who am I having the honor of meeting?"
I kiss her cheek, a nice warmth spreading though my body at her words. She's so cute!
"This is Remy!"
