Who?

I haven't left her side since I awoke, three days ago, and when she suddenly starts screaming, I break. I can't find my own voice, as Missy just starts making this wounded sound using my throat, that sort of sums up how I feel right now. Like curling up in a ball and crying until I can't cry anymore.

Shut up! I need to call the doctor! I yell at her.

We whimper and she falls silent, observing once more. I'm about to call for help when, just as suddenly, her now ragged screams cut off.

I hold my breath as she slowly opens her eyes.

For a long second, she just stares at the ceiling, unblinking.

Then her eyes shift to me, and she blinks. And blinks again. And again.

She takes a deep breath and croak out, "Is she your wolf?"

I frown in confusion. "My wolf?" I repeat.

"Yes, is 'Missy' your wolf?"

My body goes a little cold as my worries multiply. What if she doesn't like me? What if she wants a wolf? What if I screw everything up more? What if I...hurt her again?

"Hello? Anyone home in there?" She waves her hand in front of my face to get my attention.

"Huh?"

"Ah, so you can hear me, you just don't care to listen." She huffs, adorably pouting. "Figures!"

I strengthen my hold on her arm. "I do care! I'm listening, I promise! I, I..."

She looks unconvinced, with an adorable 'sure- you- are' look on her beautiful face.

Paired with her adorable bed head, I could gaze adoringly at her forever.

Adorable? I've used that word a plethora of times already.

Dad was right. I'm eating all the words of teasing I've done over the years about mates and the mate bond. When I was younger I figured I'd be the less obsessed partner between my mate and I, just as my mother was, but I've always been a daddy's girl.

"...So do I get an answer sometime today, or are you waiting for the question to magically disappear?" She demands in an authoritative voice that commands my undivided attention.

I lick my lips nervously, clearing my throat. What was her question?

Missy, who had been agreeing with my every worry and thought, suddenly gets apprehensive herself. "What if she doesn't like me?"

She's our mate, she has to love us! We will convince her!

"No, Missy isn't my wolf, or even a wolf-"

Kaitlyn relaxes a tad, relief evident on her face. "Thank god, I don't know why but lately I've really developed a weird dislike of dogs and wolves and such. Which is confusing when paired with the research I did on you and your actions, not to say that I'm opposed to being your mate anyway, it's just I'm a ghost, or I was, I don't know, and being your mate- whatever that entails- but then what are you if not a wolf? You're too hot to be-" Her babble cuts of suddenly as her face pinkens in embarrassment.

I'm enjoying her cute tirade, and grin when she admits that she thinks I'm hot. I don't think she'll have a problem with me!

"What about me?"

Hush, you heard her, she wants answers. She'll know about you if we can speak to her and stop conversing with ourself.

"Don't worry babe, I think you're hot as well," I look her up and down, then realize something that shocks me.

Her white hair is longer than it was four days ago, about five inches longer. Her face, where it was in the stages of shedding its remaining baby fat, is slimmer and more defined. From what I can tell, she's still short, but not as short. I unconsciously zero in on her, um, chest region and swallow, for where it was practically flat, curves are evident underneath the sheets.

"What?" She asks suddenly self-conscious.

I look up, clearing my throat, afraid she caught me staring at her boobs.

Her eyes are full of confusion and innocence. She didn't catch me staring-

"-Probably didn't realize what you were inappropriately staring at-"

-And are bright, big and blue. They must be the only thing that hasn't changed-

"-duh, eyes don't change size much. The size of your eyes now are basically the same as they were when you were born"-

-And... What?

"When you zone out in school, who do you think gets enough of the valuable information to get us passing grades? Pay attention to our mate!"

"What?" Kaitlyn repeats, more agitated.

Speak. You must speak. Say something, anything! Use your voice! Talk, now!

"You're... older, I think..." I mentally slap a hand to my mouth. Don't speak, ever again!

She freezes, and then echoes, "I'm older... I'm OLDER!?"

She suddenly looks down, at what had dominated my attention before, and I stuggle not to follow her eyes.

She looks up horrified, clutching the covers higher, bunching the over her shirt covered chest. "I want answers! Now, please Mystic!"

"So do I," I respond honestly. "A lot of this is new to me as well!"

She shakes her head, sighing out frustratedly, "What can you tell me?"

Um... um...

"Missy is my tiger!" I blurt out. Missy (figuratively) holds her breath in my head, where I'm more aware of her than ever.

Kaitlyn is reduced back to her slow blinking thing again. I assume that's how she processes large pieces of information.

After a while she breaks the silence. "Thank god! I love felines! Their so soft and nice and cute!"

Missy starts wordlessly bouncing around in my mind, feeling so happy my smile is almost breaking my face.

I chuckle, "Missy is happy you approve of her-"

"Approve? I haven't met her yet and I love her already!!"

Wait, Kaitlyn loves Missy? What about me!?!?

"I'm, uh, not sure where that came from," she admit, rubbing the back of her neck.

I slip up, "Probably from Azalea-"

"What Azalea?"

"Azalea is less of a what and more of a who..."

"Okay, who's Azalea?"

I don't know how to tell her who Azalea is, and I go to tell her as much before Missy commanders my voice box.

My voice goes throaty, becoming closer to Missy's.

"I'm Missy!" She shouts at Kaitlyn, who kind of shocked, nods with a little smirk.

"I recognize that voice from the hallway," Kaitlyn tells her, "So who's Azalea?"

Wow, she's really not letting this go.

Unable to stop Missy in this state, Missy's inability to see past her own excitement has her blurt out the unfiltered truth.

"AZALEA IS MY MATE... YOUR TIGER!"
